Background

MExcess was a Canadian premium movie channel that primarily aired action movies, as well as adult films after dark. It was a multiplex channel of The Movie Network. It was folded into that station on March 1, 2016.

1st Logo (2003-2008)

Visuals: Unknown.

Technique: A mix of live-action and 2D animation.

Audio: Rock/techno music throughout.

2nd Logo (2008-February 29, 2016)

Visuals: There is the previous logo, except it is coloured reddish-pink. The scene drives by a row of the signature Film Chips but in reddish-pink istead of blue. Then it stops at 1 of them, and it glows, “Feature Presentation”, in the same font as well.

Trivia: This was the only The Movie Network channel to not use the same idents as other channels owned by The Movie Network.

Variants:

  • An end-of-film variant exists, where the signature film chip forms the logo.
  • From 2013-16, the end-of-film variant plays as normal, then the screen zooms out to reveal that the logo is on an HDTV on a white background. Holding the TV is the Bell Media logo.

Technique: CGI by Trollbäck+Company.

Audio:

  • Opening: Unknown.
  • Closing: A guitar sting and a couple of faint drum notes.

Audio Variant: From 2013-16, the closing music is followed by a male announcer reading "MExcess, a division of Bell Media".
