Background
Movieplex is a premium cable network owned by Starz Inc. Its primary focus is on showing an assortment of feature films from throughout the years. The network launched as Plex: Encore 1 in January 1, 1997, and soon gained its current name by the fall of that year. On June 8, 2004, a sister channel, Indieplex, was launched, followed by Retroplex in April 4, 2006.
1st Logo (1997-2006)
Visuals: The letters of "PLEX" fly into place, in black-and-white 2D rectangles rapidly flashing between different typography styles. In the background, the text "ENCORE PLEX" flashes at the top of the screen, then again at the bottom, this time with different fonts. Several styles of "Plex" appear throughout the entire logo. Soon after, the rectangles are overtaken with blue, red, yellow and green 3D blocks respectively.
