Background

Known simply as SBT, it was one of two companies started by prolific Brazilian TV personality & producer Silvio Santos. In 1976, he began his own TV station in Rio known as TVS, which later expanded to stations in the northwest. In 1980, his production company bought the stations once owned by the doomed Rede Tupi. Those stations were relaunched as SBT a year later. By 1990, the TVS and SBT stations consolidated into one company and name. To this day, SBT's main programming have been imports either dubbed into Portuguese or adapted for Brazilians.

1st ID (1981-1984)

Visuals: Same as the third TVS logo, but with sbt text in, and it doesn't switch to a 4.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: "Apollo 15" by The London West End Orchestra.

2nd ID (1982)

Visuals: On a shot of a sunset, many strangely shaped ray sway around, only for the sunset to disappear and the rays to form a butterfly. The butterfly flies over to the bottom of the screen, resting as it fades to a clip of a real butterfly on a flower. The whole clip then converts to a white tangle before forming a seagull as a night sky fades in. The seagull then flies into the moon and the phrases "Todo dia." (Every day.), "Toda hora." (All the time.), and "Tudo bem." (It's all good.) fly in one by one. A bright light comes in and forms the SBT logo, sparkling as the full name of the network slides in from below.

Variant: Unknown.

Technique: Scanimate and live-action.

Audio: "Wigwam" by The Magnetic Sounds.

3rd ID (1983)

Visuals: Against a background with lot of numbers (at upper and lower half) zooming at the viewer, the letters s, b and t fades-in appears and a greencircle appears under it. The letters shine one by one before abruptly cuts to black.

Technique: Traditional animation.

Audio: Music played by a string instrument, with a 3-note drum as the letters fade.

4th ID (1985-1988)

Visuals: As we see a green planet (like those of SBT's sign-on/off from the '80s and '90s), a Boeing 376 satellite (possibly Brasilsat A1 or A2) zooms and places on the left. The satellite shoots green lights to color the outlines of the Brazilian states. The lights also forms the SBT logo, which zooms up to the viewer as the background changes to black.

Technique: Likely cel animation.

Audio: "L'Oasis" by Mandré with an announcer saying the station's information.

5th ID (1988-1989)

Visuals: Some multi-colored blocks join themselves to form a circle, while the SBT letters zooms out to fit in the circle.

Variant: There's a variant where the animation would play in reverse.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: More synthesized music.

6th ID (1990-1992)

Visuals: On a black background, various colored blocks of different lengths fly in until eventually, they form a map of Brazil. Then the camera flies in and the blocks seem to move apart while staying stationary (a la Channel 4). We zoom in on one pink block, which then changes from rectangular to cylindrical. That block zooms away and a ring of different colored tube blocks spin and zoom out. As this happens, the letters sbt (in a font similar to the ABC logo in America) zoom out. Once it settles, all the blocks have joined together to make a large multicolored circle.

Variants: Unknown

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Ferdinand J. Smith's score for the HBO Feature Presentation ident from 1982 (using the music for the short variant), which is also used for the fourth TVS logo.

7th ID (1991-1992)

Visuals: On a black background with blue sliding rectangles, the words "VEM QUE É BOM" come in, as the rainbow circle in the SBT logo spins clockwise.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Same as the campaign ident.

8th ID (1992-1993)
