Background
Starling (a.k.a. "Starling Productions") is a French game show production company founded in 1989 by former TF1 producer Franck Marty. Starling first produced educational cable series and since 1992, Starling produced game shows and reality series. In 1998, Marty was recruited by Canal Plus ("Canal+"). On June 7, 2004, Sony Pictures Entertainment acquired Starling from Vivendi S.A. and it was made part of Sony Pictures Television International until April 1, 2009, when all SPT's companies and joint ventures were combined under one roof. In July 2020, Satisfaction Group acquired Starling along with the French operations of Sony Pictures Television.
