Background
TV3 (spelled as Tivi Tiga) is a Malaysian free-to-air television channel owned by Media Prima conglomerate. It was launched on 1 June 1984 as the country's first and oldest private television channel.
1st ID (June 1, 1984-December 31, 1986)
ID: Against a space background, a blue lighting bolt strikes the center, followed by a red bolt. A colorful explosion then appears, followed by the TV3 text made with cyan outlines zooming in with trails. The trail then disappears, and the logo turns solid being split into several horizontal pieces. This also makes the T blue, the V yellow, and the 3 red. The text Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Berhad in white then fades in below the logo.
Technique: The lighting bolts, the colorful explosion, the trail effect, and text fading in.
Music/Sounds: A synth wave theme with a group of people singing "Tivi Tiga!"
Availability: Extinct.
2nd ID (January 1, 1987-1989)
ID: Against a space background, three sets of two parallel lines in blue, yellow, and red (from top to bottom) enter the screen one by one. The set zooms in further before splitting horizontally. A view of Kuala Lumpur (at the time) in Scanimate then fades in. As we pass the building, the complete TV3 logo zooms in with Rangkaian Sukaramai written in cursive with a line under it. A shine appears in different parts of the logo.
Variant A variation existed where the parallel lines enter the screen together starting from different positions. Once that's done, the Kuala Lumpur view appears as the parallel lines leave the screen and the TV3 logo zooms in. The lines then enter the screen and stay for a few seconds before leaving again as Rangkaian Sukaramai zooms in and sets its position.
Technique: Scanimate animation.
Music/Sounds: Same as before, but with "Untuk Anda!" added to the lyrics.
Availability: Extinct, but it's preserved on a recording of a December 6, 1988 report uploaded by the official Bulletin TV3 YouTube channel.
3rd ID (1989-1994)
ID: We begin with a view of the sea as a glass TV3 rises. We then zoom into the logo before it is shown fully again. As the logo gets its three colors, the background turns into a space background, and Rangkaian Sukaramai enters the screen. The logo then faces toward us as we pass by the stars.
Later Variant: Starting from June 1, 1992, just before the TV3 logo faces toward the screen, BERITA TERKINI and HIBURAN SENSASI enter the screen as a line forms horizontally between them
Technique: CG animation.
Music/Sounds: It starts off as a calm tune before we hear a short low-pitched synth rendition of the 1984 ident.
Availability: Extinct, but it's preserved on various reports from the era uploaded by the official Bulletin TV3 YouTube channel.
4th ID (1994-February 29, 2000)
ID: Against a night sky background, we see a pad fade in as a view of Kuala Lumpur enters the screen and several blue, yellow, and red thick square-shaped light rays pass through it. Rays of light of the logo's colors pass through it twice before the Malaysian flag appears. Parts of the flags begin rising, before revealing that it had turned into the TV3 logo. BERITA TERKINI HIBURAN SENSASI from the previous ident then appears as the pad rotates.
Technique: CG animation.
Music/Sounds: Am orchestral fanfare with a group of women singing "Tivi Tiga!" at the end.
Availability: See 3rd ID.
5th ID (March 1, 2000-2003)
ID: On a golden cloudy background, we see two texts reading the network's name. One of them is lowercase, outlined and is moving downwards starting from the left top of the screen. The other is uppercase, colored dark brown, duplicated, and is moving towards the left. Several texts of the company's name then appear by zooming out before fading away. The TV3 logo is then formed by moving lights as the clouds become darker. The logo glows and becomes more visible as the registered symbol appears. It then moves to the left as "Duniamu" appears at the top left one by one.
Technique: The text moving and the logo forming.
Music/Sounds: First, we hear a choir accompanied by a xylophone tune. As the logo forms, conga sounds can be heard. After the logo becomes more visible, we hear two synthesized notes, with the first being the longest. At the end, we hear five chime notes.
Availability: Extinct, but it's preserved on two reports from the era uploaded by the official Bulletin TV3 YouTube channel.
