Background: TV3 is Ireland's only independent channel, and began transmission on September 29, 1998. Originally owned by CanWest, in 2000 it was bought by Granada. It is well known for the large amounts of programming imported from Granada/ITV, leading its detractors to brand it "ITV Ireland". In recent years, however, it has increased the amount of local programmes such as Ireland AM (an Irish version of GMTV) ,The Apprentice, and more recently Come Dine With Me.

1st Logo (September 29, 1998- July 31, 2000)

Logo: TV3's first idents saw the logo at the center of various everyday objects: bubbles, cameras, robots, umbrellas, a fan, a sundial, a bouncy toy, spinning tops, bumpers (dodgems), and a roller-coaster.

FX/SFX: Nice CGI/computer generated logo .

Music/Sounds: Unknown, as the only sources which exist are stills. However, what is known is that a voice (gender unknown) says "three" at the end of the ident.

Availability: Extinct. Surviving captures of the idents can be foundhere.

Logo: After one of the 6 variants plays, we see a dot (color depends on the variant). Another dot appears, making the last one fade. Then, a white dot with the TV3 logo on it appears, which makes the background turn into the same color as the last two dots. We then see all three dots on the right of the screen, as the third dot releases white circles.

Variants: There are 6 in total:

Band: In a white room, we see a music group, three male, and one female. The female group member then walks up to the screen, and grabs a microphone and starts singing.
City: We see a close up of a road, with a person walking on it. Then, the TV3 logo appears in white neon.
Karate: TBA
Diving: TBA
Birthday: TBA
Horror: Same as the Band ID, but after a while, the female singer stops singing and starts talking. Then, one of the group members takes of his red electric guitar and pushes the singer with a mad expression on his face. He then hits the female singer with the guitar, which breaks it. The singer is then shown screaming, covering her neck, which is spurting blood. Then, another one of the group members slaps one of the group members in the face, which makes his mouth/nose bleed. Then, one of the group members unscrews his Hi-Hat and throws it to a group members face, which slices half of his head off. Then, one of the group members sits down and starts drumming with blood on the wall.

Trivia: The singer in the Band and Horror ID's is Kojii, an Irish Actress, Musician, and Model.

FX/SFX: The footage playing, and the animation at the end.

Music/Sounds: Depends on the ID.

Availability: Extinct. The Horror ID was possibly used duringthe month of October.
