Background: WNPT is a PBS affiliate located in Nashville, Tennessee. It launched in 1962 as WDCN, and changed its call letters to WNPT in 2000.
1st (Known) Logo
(1969-1972?)
Logo: Just a in-credit which saying:
A Presentation of
WDCN Channel 2
Nashville, TN
Produced by
Educational
Television
and Radio
Center
with the copyright date above the logo, scrolling over the credits.
FX/SFX: The credits scrolling.
Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the show.
Availability: Near extinction. Was seen on some shows produced during the era.
Editor's Note: None.
2nd (Known) Logo
(1973?)
Logo: In text, the letters "WDCN-TV" are on the top left. Below it is the word "Nashville". Then on the bottom left, the 1971 PBS logo is shown. On the right side, A giant "2" is beside it.
FX/SFX: None
Music/Sounds: An announcer saying "WDCN Nashville Tennessee"
Availability: Extinct. Found on local programming from the era.
Editors Note: The existence of this logo was unknown before its discovery. It's also very interesting to see that they were Channel 2 during this time (They turned to Channel 8 not too long after).
2nd Logo
(1978?)
TBA
3rd (known) Logo
(1987-2000)
Nickname: "WD8N"
Logo: On a blue background, from a top aerial view, we see parts of the WDCN logo, consisting of a segmented "W", "D", and "N", colored blue, as well as a red "8" with the bottom part cut on the right (making it a "C"), flying all over the screen. When they form the logo, we go to a center shot, and the logo zooms in slightly and shines.
FX/SFX: '80s computer effects.
Music/Sounds: A synthesized guitar tune, and the annoucer saying "WDCN... Nashville".
Availability: Rare. Usually seen as a "You're watching..." local ID on the channel, but this may have also been a program intro tag for some local shows. Also, seen on many programming from the era, but those programs are long gone, due to appearing or plastering with older prints.
Editor's Note: None.
4th Logo
(2000-2005)
Logo: On a white background, we see the letters "Npt" in a blue Clarendon font zoom out. The words "Nashville Public Television" appear according to the beat of the theme.
FX/SFX: Just the letters zooming out.
Music/Sounds: A 5-note saxophone sounder with the last 3 notes in-sync with the animation.
Availability: Extinct; used to appear at the end of The Big Comfy Couch before 2005. Recorded tapes might have this logo still.
Editor's Note: None.
5th Logo
(2005-2009)
Logo: On a teal background, we see "Npt" in white, in a typewriter font, fading in, as well as "Nashville Public Television" underneath it in white, and "wnpt.net" to the right of it in light blue. Red, purple, yellow, blue, and green pixels fade on the logo.
FX/SFX: The zooming of the logo and the flashing squares.
Music/Sounds: A guitar/piano orchestra rendition of the previous theme.
Availability: Currently at the end of The Big Comfy Couch episodes on PBS. Was recently spotted on a 2009 episode of Volunteer Gardener. Can be seen on some older episodes of Tennessee Crossroads. If your PBS station broadcasts Chet Atkins: Certified Guitar Playerduring a pledge drive, you might catch this at the start and end of the program, even on newer prints.
Editor's Note: None.
6th Logo
(2009-2012)
Logo: TBA
FX/SFX: TBA
Music/Sounds: TBA
Availability: Can be seen on some older episodes of Tennessee Crossroads.
Editor's Note: None.
7th Logo
(2012-2017)

Editor's Note: None.
8th Logo
(2017-present)
Logo: On a spotlight background, we see a new "Npt" logo, with a blue coin and the text from before, spinning and then stops. "Nashville Public Television" and the URL link appears below.
FX/SFX: The spinning. Good CGI.
Music/Sounds: Same as the previous logo. Beginning in February 2018, however, a descending guitar tune is used instead.
Availability: Current. Seen on Volunteer Gardener, Tennessee Crossroads, and Tennessee's Wild Side.
Editor's Note: None.
