North American Bumpers

(1998-March 21, 2006)

Logo: On a black background with stars, we see DreamWorks' "Moon Boy" symbol either on the top-right or top-left. In the center is text announcing the previews. The text is in all caps depending on the variant. A list of variants includes:

  • Coming to Theaters
  • Coming to Theaters Next Year
  • Coming to Movie Theaters in the Year 2000
  • Coming Soon to Video
  • Now Available on Videocassette
  • Available Exclusively on Video and DVD
  • On Video and DVD
  • Now on Video
  • Coming Soon from DreamWorks Animation

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen during the opening previews of DreamWorks videotapes and DVDs. The "Year 2000" variant can be found on The Prince of Egypt, the "Next Year" variant can be found on Shrek, and the "DreamWorks Animation" variation can be found on the DVD of Shrek 2. The last appearance of the bumpers appear on the 2006 VHS of Dreamer.

United Kingdom

1st Bumper (1998-1999)

Same as the CIC Video bumpers at the time.


2nd Bumper (2002-2006)

Same as the Universal Studios Home Entertainment bumpers at the time.


Australia

(1998-1999)

Same as the CIC Video bumpers at the time.


Germany

(1998-2005)

Logo: Same as the domestic bumper, but the text is replaced by one of the following clip-ons:

  • DEMNÄCHST IN KINO ("COMING SOON TO CINEMAS" in German)
  • JETZT IM KINO ("NOW IN CINEMAS")

Variant: A variant of the "JETZT IN KINO" variant exists that shows the text in a black background.

FX/SFX: Same as the domestic bumper.

Music/Sounds: Same as the domestic bumper.

Availability: This was found on a German VHSes at the time, such as Deep Impact.

Legacy: None.

Brazil

(2000?-2005?)

Same as the Universal Studios Home Entertainment bumpers at the time.


Spain

(2000?-2005?)

Same as the Universal Studios Home Entertainment bumpers at the time.


Mexico

1st Bumper (2000?-2002?)

Logo: Same as the domestic bumper, but the text is replaced by one of the following clip-ons:

  • AHORA EN CINE ("NOW IN CINEMAS" in Spanish)
  • AHORA EN VIDEO ("NOW ON VIDEO")

FX/SFX: Same as the domestic bumper.

Music/Sounds: Same as the domestic bumper.

Availability: Uncommon. Found on Mexican VHS releases at the time, such as Chicken Run (Pollitos en fuga).

Legacy: None.


2nd Bumper (2002?-2005?)

Logo: Same as the Universal Pictures Home Entertainment bumpers at the time, but the DreamWorks logo is shown instead of the Universal logo. So far, the following clip-ons have been found:

  • Próximamente a la venta en video y DVD ("Coming soon on sale in video and DVD")
  • A la venta en video y DVD ("On sale in video and DVD")
  • a la venta en video ("on sale in video")
  • próximamente en cines ("coming soon on cinemas")
  • en cines ("on cinemas")

Music/Sounds: Same as the Universal Pictures Home Entertainment bumpers at the time.

Availability: Uncommon. Found on Mexican VHS releases at the time, such as Shrek.

Italy

(2000?-2005?)

Logo: On a blue background with a DreamWorks logo wallpaper, we see "IN VENDITA IN VIDEOCASSETTA DA [MONTH/YEAR]" ("FOR SALE ON VIDEOCASSETTE IN [MONTH/YEAR]" in Italian).

Variant: In early releases, the background is black-blue gradient, the font is different, and there's a DreamWorks logo in the upper left corner.

FX/SFX: None or the ID sliding to the right for the start of any given trailer.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Uncommon. Appears on Italian DreamWorks VHS releases, such as Shrek and Shark Tale.

Poland

Same as the Universal Studios Home Entertainment bumpers at the time.


Finland

(2000?-2005?)

Logo: On a blurry slow-motion clip of the DreamWorks logo, we see "TULOSSA VIDEOLLE" ("COMING SOON TO VIDEO" in Finnish).

FX/SFX: None or the ID sliding to the right for the start of any given trailer.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Rare. Appears on Finnish DreamWorks VHS releases, such as Shark Tale (Hain tarina).
