Background
Dualstar Entertainment is a privately held American limited liability company owned and founded by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, launched on May 5, 1993. It produced films, television series, magazines, video games, and other popular media. Dualstar was based in Los Angeles, California and is now based in Culver City.
1st Logo (September 27-October 30, 1993)
Logo: Just the words "DUALSTAR" and "PRODUCTIONS" sliding from the left and right respectively on a black background.
Variant: On Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen: Our First Video, after the logo finishes, the logos for BMG Kids & Zoom Express slide in from the left and right.
Technique: Simple 2D animation.
Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the movie. On Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen: Our First Video, a whooshing sound accompanies it
Availability: Only seen on Double, Double, Toil and Trouble & Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen: Our First Video.
2nd Logo (November 19, 1994-May 7, 2004)
Logo: Against a nighttime sky background, we see a shiny round blue object turn to the left. Two crescent shapes appear from the right as several light streaks fly across it from the lower left, forming a "D" with a crescent. It flashes and moves slightly upward, and the words "DUALSTAR ENTERTAINMENT GROUP" or "DUALSTAR PRODUCTIONS", all arranged vertically, appear below.
Variant: On TV shows, the logo either begins with a sped-up version of the long version, or starts with the crescent forming.
Technique: Well-animated CGI for the time, which holds up pretty well today
Music/Sounds: A dramatic string tune ending in a 2-note fanfare.
Music/Sound Variants:
- Three variants of the main jingle exist. One is the full version (seen mostly on movies from the company), another is a slightly shorter version (seen at the end of some Mary-Kate and Ashley TV shows), and a warp-speed version that plays the first 6 string notes before cutting to the last note of the theme (seen on some episodes of So Little Time).
- On most TV shows with this logo, the end theme was used.
Availability: Appears on many films and TV series from Mary-Kate and Ashley, such as Switching Goals and So Little Time.
