Background

Dualstar Interactive was the video game division of Dualstar Entertainment and was one of eight subsidiaries that Dualstar operated. It was launched in 1999 through a partnership with Acclaim Entertainment.[1] In 2004, Dualstar Interactive filed a lawsuit against Acclaim,[2] which went bankrupt. Acclaim's bankruptcy and subsequent closure and liquidation effectively ended Dualstar Interactive.

1st Logo (December 12, 1999-October 28, 2002)

Visuals: Essentially just a still image of the Dualstar Interactive logo on a white background.

Variants:

  • On Game Boy Color releases, the words appear to the right.
  • A prototype version of the stacked version appears on Mary-Kate & Ashley: Winner's Circle, where the text is aligned to the left, and "DUALSTAR" is the same size as "INTERACTIVE".

Technique: A still, sprite-based graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games from the company, such as Mary-Kate & Ashley: Get a Clue!, Mary-Kate & Ashley: Winner's Circle, Mary-Kate & Ashley: Girls Night Out, and Mary-Kate & Ashley: Sweet 16: Licensed to Drive.

2nd Logo (December 16, 1999-February 14, 2003)

Visuals: Against a nighttime sky background, a shiny round blue object turns to the left. Two crescent shapes appear from the right as several light streaks fly across it from the lower left, forming a "D" with a crescent. It flashes and moves slightly upward, while the vertically arranged text "DUALSTAR INTERACTIVE" appears below.

Technique: CGI by WunderFilm.

Audio: Same as the 2nd Dualstar Entertainment logo.

Availability: Appeared on Mary-Kate and Ashley games for PS1 and PC, such as Mary-Kate and Ashley: Dance Party of the Century, Mary-Kate and Ashley: Magical Mystery Mall, and Mary-Kate and Ashley: Crush Course. It also appeared on the console versions of Mary-Kate & Ashley: Sweet 16: Licensed to Drive.
