Background

Dutch FilmWorks is a Dutch film distribution company founded in 1998.

1st Logo (1999-2005)

Visuals: The logo at first is encased in pitch black; a shade of red is seen passing vertically over the letters DFW in a shadow like manner. As this happens, the words DUTCH FILMWORKS appear from the sides as afterimages before clashing together. After a few seconds of hesitation, the background opens up with an iris-like transition to reveal once again the letters DFW thus showcasing said entire logo in its own form.

Technique: Simple computer effects.

Audio: A synthetic dance-like tune, followed by a few occasional whooshes, an impact sound, and an echoey baritone voice saying the company name.

Availability: Can be seen on Dutch FilmWorks releases from that era.

2nd Logo (2005-2011)

Note: Skip to 3:49 for the logo on the 1st video and 0:32 on the second video

Visuals: The screen pans over a filmstrip with light shining through the holes, then the camera backs out to reveal the previous logo in 3D floating over an ocean on a cloudy sky background with light shining through the logo. As the camera lowers, there's a sun flash as the sun passes the logo. Then their URL "www.dfw.nl" in white wipes in below the logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A synthesized woosh followed by a string fanfare with an explosion sound synced with the sun flash which surges into an 8-note majestic fanfare with an ending similar to the ending of the 1999 Warner Bros. Pictures fanfare.

Availability: Seen on Dutch FilmWorks releases from this era.

3rd Logo (2011-)

Visuals: Over a black background, the logo starts with some black liquid coming from the top right of the screen. Then we see a square made of black liquid being formed, then we fly into the cube. Then we see multiple shots of the black liquid pouring. Then the camera pans over a black cube with the white letters "DFW" encased in it. Then the full logo is revealed which has two curved bevels on it. Then an orange line appears below the logo as "DUTCH FILMWORKS" in white fades in below.

Variant: There is a short variant that starts at the square being formed.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A faint chorus followed, then a woosh sound followed by multiple liquid and slicing sounds that are synced with the animation. However, sometimes the opening theme of the film is used instead.

Availability: Can be seen on Dutch FilmWorks releases since 2011, such as Dutch prints of The Expendables sequels, Riddick, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Age of Adaline, The Hitman's Bodyguard and its sequel Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, Death Wish (2018), Hellboy (2019), Child's Play (2019), Rambo: Last Blood, Midway, Moonfall, Boy Kills World and Back to Black.
