Background

Dziennik Telewizyjny (commonly known as Dziennik) was a Polish communist news program that was started in 1952, broadcasting communist propaganda all across the Polish People’s republic. It was shut down in 1989 when communism fell in Poland due to the Solidarność movement.



1st Intro (1952-1958)

Visuals: The logo shows a radio tower broadcasting, as the words “Dziennik Telewizjyny” appear over it.

Technique: None.

Audio: Unknown.

Availability: It is unknown on which it played, but it was broadcasted in the Polish People’s Republic.

2nd Intro (1 January 1958-1970)

Visuals: The same radio tower emitting radio waves is shown against a black background. the news broadcaster's name "DZIENNIK TELEWIZYJNY" zooms in to the center.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: Several morse code-like beeps before heading to a majestic orchestral theme.

Availability: It is unknown on which it played, but appeared on a TV special.

3rd Intro (1970-1976)

Visuals: The intro shows a globe covered with the letters “DTV” zooming in bold.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: A fanfare, which was the call sign.

Availability: Part of the intro has been found so far, but it was broadcasted in the People’s Polish Republic.

4th Intro (1976-1989)

Visuals: The intro starts with a map of Poland. Then, the letters “d” and “t” stretch in, white and red respectively. Then, the screen cuts to a map of Europe as the letters stretch in again. Then we cut to a map of the world as the letters stretch in again, and the word “DZIENNIK” appears under the letters.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: Same as the previous intro.
