EMI Television Programs

EMI Television Programs was the TV movie production division of the EMI conglomerate headed by Roger Gimbel. It was formerly known as Tomorrow Enterprises (no relation to Tomorrow Entertainment) until it was acquired in July 1976 and renamed EMI Television. The division was closed around 1983, and the films were sold to Viacom Enterprises and are now owned by CBS Media Ventures.

Logo (1977-1983)

Visuals: As the closing credits finish, the credit A ROGER GIMBEL PRODUCTION FOR appears on the screen in a Serif font, arranged in a semi-circular stack seen like this:

A
ROGER GIMBEL
PRODUCTION
FOR

"A" and "FOR" appear in smaller print, while Gimbel's name appears in larger print. Then this fades and the EMI logo appears just like its British theatrical counterpart except that here the phrase "EMI TELEVISION PROGRAMS, INC." is seen under the logo. Both the Gimbel credit and EMI logo are superimposed over the end-credit montage.

Variants:

  • Also may referred as "EMI FILMS LIMITED".
  • The opening version is set on a blue background, with the phrase "EMI FILMS LIMITED PRESENTS A ROGER GIMBEL PRODUCTION", with "EMI" inside a rectangle.

Technique: Camera-controlled 2D animation.

Audio: The closing theme of the movie.

Availability: Retained intact on its productions where aired (often followed by the Viacom "V of Doom" logo or the CBS Television Distribution logo on most still-circulating prints). Among the notable TV movies it produced such as Dead Man's Curve, Deathmoon, The Legend of Walks Far Woman, and The Killing of Randy Webster, among others.
