Background

ERT2 is the 2nd channel of ERT. Originally owned by the Hellenic Armed Forces, where it went by YENED, it was given to public control and therefore became the 2nd ERT channel. In 1998, it converted into mostly a news channel, becoming known as NET. It became abolished in 2013 with all of ERT during a money saving cut, but went back on air on June 11, 2015 along with the rest of ERT.

ERT2 (1st era)

1st Logo (1982-1984)

Logo: On a black background, a strange-looking "2" outlined in blue appears. It then trails back to the right, with a green outline part appearing as well, and the top part in orange. All of these have trails as well. As they reach the right center of the screen, they fill with their respective colors and the trails retract, while the large, bubbly text "ΕΡΤ" appears as a red outline, trailing downwards diagonally. It then leaves a solid-colored copy to the left of the "2", and the trail flies off-screen.

Variants:

  • This logo was used for the news intro at the time, in which the green bubbly text "ΕΙΔΗΣΕΙΣ" wiped in below.
  • A still version was normally used. Here, the logo was redrawn with brighter colors and a thicker-looking "2".

FX/SFX: The "2" forming, the trails.

Music/Sounds: Typically a soft, peaceful tune for the still image. The news intro uses a bombastic synth fanfare.

Availability: Extinct.

Editor's Note: Compared to its sister channel, it did have animation from the near start of its existence rather than just having slides.
