Background

Ecosse Films is a film and television company based in London founded by Douglas Rae.

1st Logo (October 24, 1997-November 4, 1999)

Logo: For the most part, it's an in-credit notice consisting of two flags connected together resembling the Scottish and French flags respectively. Underneath has "An ECOSSE FILMS".

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the show.

Availability: Extremely rare. Only seen on a few shows from this period such as An Unsuitable Job for a Woman.

2nd Logo (February 27, 2000-)

Logo: On a black background, we see three blurry shapes: one in blue and the others in red. Underneath it reads "E C O S S EF I L M S". The shapes themselves are seen to deblur and fade into a blue square with a thick "X" covering most of it and a long, red trapezoid tilted 90 degrees counterclockwise.

Variants:

  • An in-credit variant exists. This was mainly used at the end of TV shows.
    • Monarch of the Glen, the logo appears above the BBC Scotland logo.
  • On Mistresses, the logo appears underneath the Bob Sertner Productions logo.
  • A still version exists as well.
  • On A Royal Night Out, the logo is squished.
  • On The Trial of Christine Keeler, the logo is inside a white box.

FX/SFX: The shapes debluring and fading.

Music/Sounds: None or the ending theme of the show.

Availability: Common. Appeared on many films and TV shows from this period such as Monarch of the Glen, Mistresses, A Royal Night Out, among others.
