Background
Edko Films Ltd. is a Hong Kong film distribution company founded in 1950.
1st Logo (November 20, 1992-1998)
Visuals: On a starry night background, we see a dark hill. Suddenly, a shooting star flies under the hill. Then, a metallic golden emblem with the company's name in both Cantonese and English appears at the middle of the screen.
Technique: Motion-controlled animation.
Audio: A bombastic synth fanfare.
Availability: Seen on at least one release, which is Porco Rosso.
2nd Logo (1998-)
Visuals: On a black background, we see a stylized lowercase "e" with a sun emblem. Then, the text in both Cantonese and English fade in appears saying "Distributed by EDKO FILMS LTD.", Then a red line extending until it stops into the said company's name and logo.
Variants:
- Sometimes, the name was just simply "EDKO FILMS LIMITED".
- In the later years, the logo is now smaller.
Technique: 2D animation.
Audio: None or the opening theme of the movie.
Availability: Can be seen on Anita and its director's cut. It precedes the Columbia Pictures logo on Chinese and Hong Kong prints of The Karate Kid (2010).
