First screen: On a black background, we see the closed captioning logo (with a rounded TV screen in it)to the right, with a star above and the word "SM" below next to the arrow pointing to the left. The words read:
This video is closed captioned. the video's dialogue will be displayed as words on your TV screen when you have a VideoCaption reader connected to your TV and video recorder.

Variant: On some tapes, the background is green/black gradient, the Closed Captioned logo zooms out to the lower left, and the text fades in on the right. Sometimes however, its a blue/black gradient with a blue line pattern instead for the background.
