Background

In 1997, Fennada-Filmi's name was brought back to Finnish cinema by director Markku Pölönen when setting up his film production company. This was possible when the brand of the original movie company was possible to obtained for purchase at the time. By reusing the same company name, Pölönen wanted to respect the tradition of old Finnish cinema, the company of the same name and its long-term director and commercial adviser Mauno Mäkelä. After couple of films, Fennada-Filmi was eventually shut down and replaced by newly founded Suomen Filmiteollisuus, when Markku Pölönen and his wife Satu Sadinkangas managed to gain rights of the film company in 2001.

1st Logo (February 13, 1998)

Visuals: Couple of shooting stars are passing through in far distance on a black background. The screen then zooms out to large grindstone rolling at one place with large axe being finished of sharpening its blade. Axe then moves off the screen as we keep zooming out further away to get full view of the grindstone from its side. The zooming stops as then glossy logo pops up in front of the grindstone and approaches to the center of the screen with bold "F E N N A D A" above and transparent "FILMI" written on lower white outline with three long and thin spikes on each side.

Technique: Shooting stars, grindstone, axe and the logo all done in CGI.

Audio: Meteorites passing through, large crumbling noise of the grindstone and axe's lashing its blade. In the background, we can then hear axe chopping something before echoing male choir is then heard.

Availability: Seen only in A Summer by the River (Kuningasjätkä).

2nd Logo (August 18, 2000-October 5, 2001)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the previous logo now painted light blue and "FILMI" colored white, slowly fading in to the screen from left to right. As this happens, there is the lighting passing through between top and side corners of "F E N N A D A" with lower part of the logo also shinning occasionally. Logo then slowly fades to black as the lighting has reached to the right side of it.

Technique: Glossy CGI logo.

Audio: None or the beginning of movie's music track.

Availability: Seen in Badding and On the Road to Emmaus (Emmauksen tiellä).

3rd Logo (February 13, 2004)

Visuals: It's the same logo now painted completely white and zoomed in closer, fading in and out on a black background.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen only in Dog Nail Clipper (Koirankynnen leikkaaja).
