Format Films was founded in 1959 by Herbert Kynn with Jules Engel as a vice president, Bob McIntosh and Joseph Mugnaini. The studio produced the opening of the first season of The Twilight Zone, The Alvin Show, the Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner cartoons by Rudy Larriva, The Long Ranger, among others. They closed in 1962, but reopened in 1965 as Format Productions.
