Background

Forum Film is a film distributor owned by Cineworld via Cinema City International which serves Israel, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Czechia and Slovakia. The company handles distribution of titles from The Walt Disney Studios, Sony Pictures (via A.D. Matalon), Paramount Pictures and Lionsgate in Israel.

1st Logo (June 6, 1982)

Visuals: Over a black background, there is an "FF" with a stairs below it and a Hebrew text below it flipping in.

Technique: Motion controlled animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on אדון ליאון.

2nd Logo (Late 1980's-1990's)

Visuals: On a pink analog spiral background, a Greek pedestal, with a pillar resembling two F's mirrored with one another, reveals itself and zooms up to the screen. The pedestal then moves out of view as a shiny filmstrip with Hebrew text appears scrolling to the right. The pedestal reappears from behind it and sets above.

Technique: 2D animation over analog computer effects.

Audio: An old trumpet fanfare.

Availability: Can be found on Hebrew Disney/Touchstone VHS releases such as Good Morning, Vietnam and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

3rd Logo (1990's-2006)

Visuals: Over a dark blue floor, a flash of light appears in the far, bringing forth two bronze bars. The bars connect on top, and more bars grow beside them to form the "FF" logo. The camera pans out to show the full logo with the same Hebrew text below it, then it shines.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A triumphant 8-note trumpet theme with a gong at the end.

Availability: Seen on titles released by Forum both theatrically and on home video during that period. Such titles include Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight, Bruce Almighty, Brother Bear, The Haunted Mansion (2003), and The Incredibles.

4th Logo (2006-2012)

Visuals: On a watery-blue background, the Forum Film symbol is shown as it spins around as it forms. After that, the Forum Film wordmark in both Hebrew and English, also in copper appears before being placed on the bottom of the symbol.

Variant: A variation for Forum Film Poland also exist, with the text being changed for its Polish division.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A triumphant six-note fanfare.

Availability: Seen on titles released by Forum during that period such as The Reader, Cars, Toy Story 3, The Adventures of Tintin, Ratatouille, WALL-E, G-Force, The Princess and the Frog, and Mr. Brooks.

5th Logo (2012-)

Visuals: On a plain background with bright lenses scattered over it, a golden cylinder is formed through slices connecting. A single ring is sliced off from its top to make for a proper pedestal, then an "F" zooms out, spins to reveal another "F" mirrored to it, and sets above the pedestal. "FORUM FILM" flips in letter-by-letter below the logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Presumably an updated version of the previous logo's audio.

Availability: Seen on titles distributed by Forum during that period.

  • This logo appears on Israeli prints of titles from 20th Century Fox (until 2019, usually following after the A.D. Matalon logo), Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (until 2022), The Weinstein Company (until 2018), Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, and Lionsgate from 2012 onwards. Such titles include Blade Runner 2049, Knives Out, Call Me By Your Name, Sicario, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Creed. It is unknown if this logo appears before releases of Disney/BVI titles in that country despite Forum's logo appearing on posters for Disney titles before the Fox acquisition.
  • This logo also appeared on Bulgarian, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Polish and Romanian prints of MGM and TWC titles until 2018 and 2022 respectively such as The Hateful Eight, The Imitation Game, Booksmart, Spectre, and The Addams Family (2019).
