Background

FromSoftware, Inc. is a Japanese video game development and publishing company based in Tokyo, founded by Naotoshi Zin in November 1986. Their earliest successful franchises included the dungeon crawler King's Field, the mystery adventure Echo Night and the mecha shooter Armored Core. It wasn't until the release of Demon's Souls in 2009 and its 2011 successor Dark Souls which further boosted the recognition of the company, spanning a trilogy and a legacy of "Soulslike" titles such as Bloodborne and Elden Ring. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of the Dark Souls series, has served as FromSoftware's representative director and president since 2014.
