Background

GMA Pictures (formerly known as Cinemax Studios (no relation with Warner Bros. Discovery's Cinemax channel) and GMA Films) is a film and television production company established by the Filipino TV network GMA Network in 1995.

Cinemax Studios

1st Logo (1995-1997)

• 

Visuals: On a black background, there is the text "CINEMAX (in the Inverserif font) STUDIOS INC." suddenly appear.

Variant: A prototype version where the logo zooms out and flash, also the company name color yellow and the word "STUDIOS INC." in blue this was seen on Ober Da Bakod 2.

Technique: A still, printed graphic.

Audio: An electronic noise with a trumpet crescending throughout; the music is played over from either the 1st OctoArts Films logo or the 1st Megavision Films logo.

Audio Variant:

• On Ober Da Bakod 2, just the ping sound was heard.
• Some films such as Ben Balasador: Akin ang Huling Alas and Totoy Hitman, the opening theme of the movie.
• On Rubberman, it uses the 2nd half music from OctoArts Films during narrator was heard.
• On Tubusin mo ng bala ang puso ko, the logo is silent.
• On Bastardo, A dark violin tune was heard.

Availability: Seen on the films from the era.

• The variant with the music from the OctoArts Films logo is seen on films such as Rubberman.

2nd Logo (1997-1998)

Visuals: Above the rippling water, there is the red sphere quickly dropping down to the top-near right, while the teal letter C quickly emerges from the water, then the background turns white while the sphere casts the shadow and the words "CINEMAX STUDIOS" with the gray rippling texture fade in below the sphere and the C.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The opening theme of the movie.

Audio Variants:

• Ayos Lang, Pare Ko has the continuation of the Megavision Films logo, along with a loud WHOOOOSH at the middle of it.
• On Anting Anting, A mellow synth tune along with chimes is heard.
• On Halik ng Vampira and Mapusok it uses the 2nd half of both music of OctoArts Films is used.
• On Kamandag Ko Ang Papatay Sa Iyo, A doubled pitched music from the continuation of the Megavision Films logo, along with a loud WHOOOOSH was heard.

Availability:

• It could be seen on Sanggano.
• The variant with the music from Megavision Films is seen on Ayos Lang, Pare Ko and Kamandag Ko Ang Papatay Sa Iyo.
• The variant with the music from the OctoArts Films logo is seen on Halik ng Vampira and Mapusok.

GMA Films

3rd Logo (1998-2000)

Visuals: On a black background, the text "GMA" (from its 1998-2002 variation of the 1992-2002 logo) and the word "FILMS" panning together then the rainbow appears on the "GMA" text.

Variants:

• A filmed version exists.
• On D'Sisters: Nuns of the Above, the logo was freezed-framed after the animation.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Unknown.

Audio Variants:

• A version of both music that plays from OctoArts Films exists. On D'Sisters: Nuns of the Above, the laser zaps from the logo is heard when the rainbow on the "GMA" text appears.
• Sometimes the logo is silent.

Availability:

• Can be found on movies like Jose Rizal, Sa Pusod ng Dagat, Muro Ami, Deathrow, and more.
• The version with Octoarts Films music appears on D'Sisters: Nuns of the Above, Sinaktan mo ang puso ko, May Sayad, and more.
• Starting in 2002, GMA Films began using the 1998-2002 variation of the 1992-2002 logo used only on films, such as the Maverick Films produced Luv Text: Type Mo? Txt Mo! (released on June 20, 2001) and on the IMUS Productions produced Kilabot at Kembot (released on May 29, 2002) and they also using the current logo used only on Violett Films Production's Magnifico (released on January 29, 2003), both used as de-facto logos.

4th Logo (February 9, 2005-August 24, 2011)

Visuals: The screen zooms out from a 35mm film projector with rolling reels and the GMA Kapuso symbol in its lens. Meanwhile, a long rectangle with another rectangle inside of it containing a blue sunburst is seen zooming in. The camera turns to the left. "GMAFILMS" zooms out letter-by-letter and places in the rectangle. The name flashes.

Variants:

• On some films from 2008-2011, the logo is slightly enhanced, with the reels of the projector rolling slowly and the name doesn't flash, while the logo slowly zooms in at the end.
• On some films, like One True Love, the logo fades out early as it's formed.
• On the 2011 remake of Temptation Island, the logo appears on the postcard. It appears along with the 2010-2018 Regal Films logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None, or the opening theme of the film. Some films use the logo with the sound of a rolling film projector. In Tween Academy: Class of 2012, there are some whoosh sounds and a chime.

Availability:

• First seen on Let the Love Begin and last seen on Tween Academy: Class of 2012.
• It was also seen on co-productions with Regal Films, such as When I Met You and You to Me are Everything, with IMUS Productions, such as the 2009 version of Ang Panday, with APT Entertainment, such as Yaya and Angelina: The Spoiled Brat Movie, with OctoArts Films, such as the crossover film Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote, and with VIVA Films, such as Sundo, In Your Eyes, Till I Met You, and Patient X.

5th Logo (November 2011-May 2014)

Visuals: There is a rainbow colored 35mm film covering the side of the GMA wordmark to the top of it. The camera the turns right to reveal the whole text, while the film forms the Kapuso heart symbol. The film then shrinks, causing the logo to flash very brightly while the heart appears. Another rainbow film with the letters F, I, L, M and S in each frame turns left and stops slowly underneath the completed GMA logo and flashes a few times, before fading out.

Variant: A filmed version exists.

Audio: Opening theme of the movie.

Availability: First seen in The Road and last seen in Basement. Strangely, this logo is seen on the trailer for My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore, while the film itself uses the second version of the 7th logo.

6th Logo (July 2, 2014)

Visuals: There is a scenery filled with clouds as the screen zooms out to one big cloud on a blue sky background with a rainbow forming above it, then the name "GMA FILMS" fades in underneath and shines.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Unknown.

Availability: Seen only on the film Overtime (released on July 2, 2014).

7th Logo (December 25, 2014-July 13, 2016)

Visuals: On a blue background, there is the inside of the lens then the screen zooms out, revealing a digital film projector made of glass. Then, the screen flashes when the text "GMA FILMS" suddenly appears, placing itself underneath the projector, with a blue light flare moving under the text, before fading out.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The sound of a rolling film projector, or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: First seen on Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2 (released on December 25, 2014, the posters and the trailer had use the previous logo), and was last seen on Imagine You and Me (released on July 13, 2016). It is also seen on the film My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore (which GMA co-produces the film alongside OctoArts Films, M-ZET TV Productions, APT Entertainment, and MEDA Productions).

GMA Pictures

8th Logo (July 24, 2019-)

Visuals:

• 1st version: It starts off when the Kapuso heart symbol swivels and places at the upper-right side of the A in "GMA" as it stops swiveling. The GMA wordmark glows. As it forms, eight orange flares appear, forming the word "PICTURES", where the letters rotate to face the camera. The entire logo shines with three flares appearing on the letters P, C and E in "PICTURES".
• 2nd version: The sequence starts off with golden particles forming the word "PICTURES", while the camera moves to the front view of the forming text. Then, the camera zooms out fast to reveal the GMA logo side by side with the text, while the Kapuso heart swivels and places on the the upper-right side of the GMA wordmark. The finished product also shines, like the first version.

Availability: First appeared on Family History and will be appeared on future movies, such as Special Memory, serving as a co-production with Viva Films and APT Entertainment or the upcoming Argentine-Filipino co-production Pasional (Passion).
