Background

GMA Pictures (formerly known as Cinemax Studios (no relation with Warner Bros. Discovery's Cinemax channel) and GMA Films) is a film and television production company established by the Filipino TV network GMA Network in 1995.

Cinemax Studios

1st Logo (1995–1997)

• 

Nickname: "The Weird Font"

Logo: On a black background, we see the text "CINEMAX (in a weird font) STUDIOS INC." suddenly appear.

Variant: A prototype version where the logo zooms out and flash, also the company name color yellow and the word "STUDIOS INC." in blue this was seen on Ober Da Bakod 2.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: An electronic noise with a trumpet crescending throughout; the music is played over from the OctoArts Films logo.

Music/Sound Variant:

• On Ober Da Bakod 2, just the ping sound was heard.
• Some films such as Ben Balasador: Akin ang Huling Alas and Totoy Hitman, the opening theme of the movie.
• On Rubberman, it uses the 2nd half music from OctoArts Films during narrator was heard.
• On Tubusin mo ng bala ang puso ko, the logo is silent.
• On Bastardo, A dark violin tune was heard.

Availability: Rare; seen on the films from the era.

• The variant with the music from the OctoArts Films logo is seen on films such as Rubberman.

2nd Logo (1997–1998)

Nickname: "The Teal C and the Red Sphere"

Logo: Above the rippling water, we see the red sphere quickly dropping down to the top-near right, while the teal letter C quickly emerges from the water, then the background turns white while the sphere casts the shadow and the words "CINEMAX STUDIOS" with the gray rippling texture fade in below the sphere and the C.

FX/SFX: Early CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: The opening theme of the movie.

Music/Sounds Variants:

• Ayos Lang, Pare Ko has the continuation of the Megavision Films logo, along with a loud WHOOOOSH at the middle of it.
• On Anting Anting, A mellow synth tune along with chimes is heard.
• On Halik ng Vampira and Mapusok it uses the 2nd half of both music of OctoArts Films is used.
• On Kamandag Ko Ang Papatay Sa Iyo, A doubled pitched music from the continuation of the Megavision Films logo, along with a loud WHOOOOSH was heard.

Availability: Extremely rare.

• It could be seen on Sanggano.
• The variant with the music from Megavision Films is seen on Ayos Lang, Pare Ko and Kamandag Ko Ang Papatay Sa Iyo.
• The variant with the music from the OctoArts Films logo is seen on Halik ng Vampira and Mapusok.

GMA Films

3rd Logo (1998–2000)

Nickname: "Steel GMA"

Logo: On a black background, the text "GMA" (from its 1998-2002 variation of the 1992-2002 logo) and the word "Films" panning together then the rainbow appears on the "GMA" text.

Variants:

• A filmed version exists.
• On D'Sisters: Nuns of the Above, the logo was freezed-framed after the animation.

Music/Sounds: TBA.

Music/Sounds Variants:

• A version of both music that plays from OctoArts Films exists. On D'Sisters: Nuns of the Above, the laser zaps from the logo is heard when the rainbow on the "GMA" text appears.
• Sometimes the logo is silent.

Availability:

• Uncommon, Can be found on movies like Jose Rizal, Sa Pusod ng Dagat, Muro Ami, Deathrow, and more.
• The version with Octoarts Films music appears on D'Sisters: Nuns of the Above, Sinaktan mo ang puso ko, May Sayad, and more.
• Starting in 2002, GMA Films began using the 1998-2002 variation of the 1992-2002 logo used only on films, such as the Maverick Films produced Luv Text: Type Mo? Txt Mo! (released on June 20, 2001) and on the IMUS Productions produced Kilabot at Kembot (released on May 29, 2002) and they also using the current logo used only on Violett Films Production's Magnifico (released on January 29, 2003), both used as de-facto logos.

4th Logo (2004–August 2011)

Nicknames: "Film Projector With GMA Kapuso-Shaped Lens", "GMA Kapuso I", "GMA Heart"

Logo: We zoom out from a film camera which has the GMA Kapuso symbol in its lens. Meanwhile, a long rectangle with another rectangle inside of it containing a blue sunburst is seen zooming in. The camera turns to the left. "GMAFILMS" zooms out letter-by-letter and places in the rectangle. The name flashes.

Variants: On the 2011 remake of Temptation Island, the logo appears on the postcard. It appears along with the 2010-2018 Regal Films logo.

FX/SFX: TBA.

Music/Sounds: None, or the opening theme of the film.

Availability:

• First seen on Let the Love Begin (released on February 9, 2005) and last seen on Tween Academy: Class of 2012 (released on August 24, 2011).
• It was also seen on co-productions with Regal Films, such as When I Met You and You to Me are Everything, with IMUS Productions, such as the 2009 version of Ang Panday, with APT Entertainment, such as Yaya and Angelina: The Spoiled Brat Movie, with OctoArts Films, such as the crossover film Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote, and with VIVA Films, such as Sundo, In Your Eyes, Till I Met You, and Patient X.
• Don't expect to see this logo on the 2008 animated film Urduja, which GMA is handling the distribution rights.

5th Logo (September 2011–May 2014)

Nicknames: "Rainbow Filmstrip", "GMA Kapuso II", "GMA Rainbow Heart"

6th Logo (February-December 2014)

Nicknames: "Clouds and a Rainbow", "The Logo Without The Silver Man", "The Logo Without The GMA Man"

Logo: On a blue sky background, the rainbow rises from the clouds and on the bottom, the text "GMA FILMS" appears.

Trivia: The logo is based on the 1992-1995 station IDs of GMA Network.

FX/SFX: The clouds and the rainbow rising.

Music/Sounds: TBA.

Availability: Seen only on the film Overtime (released on July 2, 2014). Don't expect to see this logo on KamKam (a Heaven's Best Productions film), and Basement (a Reality Entertainment film), as GMA handling the distribution to both films.

7th Logo (December 25, 2014–July 13, 2016)

Nicknames: "Film Projector Without the GMA Kapuso-Shaped Lens"

Logo: We zoom out from a film camera which has the light in its lens. then when the logo completes, "GMAFILMS" flashes letter-by-letter.

FX/SFX: The appearance of the film camera and the flashing of the letters.

Music/Sounds: TBA.

Availability: First seen on Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2 (released on December 25, 2014, the posters and the trailer had use the previous logo), and was last seen on Imagine You and Me (released on July 13, 2016). It is also seen on the film My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore (which GMA co-produces the film alongside OctoArts Films, M-ZET TV Productions, APT Entertainment, and MEDA Productions).
