Background

Glitch Productions is an Australian animation studio founded by Kevin and Luke Lerdwichagul, known for their YouTube channel SMG4 (SuperMarioGlitchy4). The company was founded in 2017 as Glitchy Boy but was renamed due to the old name being too vague.

Glitchy Boy

1st Logo (May 25-September 30, 2017)

Visuals: On a black background, a light flashes and a Game Boy-like console zooms in. Akin to a Gameboy Advance SP or Nintendo DS, the top screen opens up to reveal a blue background. Then, the word "GLITCHY" in a blocky font slides in from the left, and "BOY" in white with a blue outline slides in from the right. The screen shines and the screen zooms into it as the logo fades to black.

Technique: The light is done with computer animation, while everything else is done in flash.

Audio: A chiptune melody, along with whooshing sound effects and a ping.

Availability: It was seen on Hobo Bros, TheAwesomeMario, and SMG4 content until late 2017 when it was replaced with the logo below.

2nd Logo (October 8, 2017-September 6, 2018)

Visuals: The screen zooms out from a cartridge with the icon of its respective channel (red for TheAwesomeMario, blue for SMG4 and light blue for Hobo Bros). A Game Boy device, similar to the one in the previous logo but more grey than blue, slides up and the cartridge is inserted. The device flips over and the letters from "GLITCHY BOY" fly in, changing colors and glitching (fittingly) while doing so and shining afterwards, settling on blue. The logo zooms in on the screen, but much faster than last time.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The "Splatfest Intro" song from Splatoon, accompanied by whooshes and glitching sounds. A glitched version of the Game Boy Advance start-up is heard as the letters fly in.

Availability: Seen on SMG4 and TheAwesomeMario content regularly starting with War of the Fat Italians 2017. Select Hobo Bros videos used this, but those videos are few and far between. This logo was officially retired in the SMG4 Direct of September 6, 2018, which came with an announcement of the rebrand.

Glitch Productions

1st Logo (September 6, 2018-December 28, 2019)

Visuals: On a white background, the Glitch Productions logo zooms out (appearing to show a glitchy triangle with the word "GLITCH" in the middle, housing teal and pink 3D effects on it). The logo completely glitches 3 times before settling back down.

Variant: On SMG4 episodes, the logo glitches into the SMG4 logo of the time. Other videos on the SMG4 channel simply have the logo glitch away.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A brief jingle accompanied by glitching sounds.

Availability: It debuted on the SMG4 Direct and last seen on The Grand Festival.

2nd Logo (SMG4 variant) (January 18, 2020-July 31, 2021)

Visuals: The logo starts with fragments from the previous logo appearing on the sides of the screen on a black background with a dark light. Then, the full logo appears in the middle of the screen, sometimes glitching and having the text disappear.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The same jingle from the last logo combined with different glitching sounds.

Availability: Exclusively used on SMG4 episodes. It debuted on Mario Gets His P***** Stuck In The Door and was last used on She's Back!

3rd Logo (August 29, 2020-)

Visuals: On a white background with faint shapes of the letters X, Y V, and some triangles, a blue slanted rectangle slides in, with a black one following suit (when it does so, a square glitch effect appears on both of them). After this, characters from the proceeding shows appear on these banners:

• Meta Runner: Tari, with a blue and purple glitch effect applied, does a peace sign nervously. One of the squares zooms into the screen, as the black rectangle closes in, and another white background slides up from below, this time featuring Theo from the same series jumping, with the same effect. This slides down, and a white and pink banner over a black background slides up, where Whisk from Sunset Paradise, (maskless) zooms in. She is frightened and looks down. This then slides up.
  • On episode 6 of Season 2, the animation changes; Over the white patterned background from before, The letters of the word "GLITCH" appear one by one, along different sliding and spinning blue and purple backgrounds. After this, a black and purple outlined banner appears (similarly to before) which Tari appears next to, striking a different peace sign pose, followed by Masa Shimamoto who glances at the camera while sitting down. The purple outline expands into a background, and the word PRODUCTIONS appears over it, before the black filling expands. (This was reverted the following episode).
  • In episodes 8 to 9 of the 2nd season, the animation is similar to before, except that two banners appear: one is outlined in Blue and contains Bo, who does a salute-esque pose, and the other is outlined in purple, is slightly more tilted, and containsBelle Fontiere, who flexes and holds one of her arms. the blue banner slides back in, and now contains Auri Bori (from Sunset Paradise) who jumps up. The purple banner quickly slides back in and covers the screen with the dark background.
• Sunset Paradise: Whisk is replaced with Meggy striking a jump pose.
  • This also appears on season 3 episode 1 of Meta Runner.
• Murder Drones: Same as the S2E6 Meta Runner variant, but Tari and Masa are respectively replaced with Serial Designation V, who holds the disembodied head of a drone, which she looks at before glancing at the camera, and Serial Designation N, who strikes a salute.
  • In episode 5 entitled "Home", a VHS effect fades in over the logo, which zooms out to reveal it being played on a CRT screen, transitioning into the opening to the episode.

After that, the Glitch Productions logo zooms up against a dark version of the patterned background from before.

Variants:

• In Meta Runner season 3, the logo is in-credit, although the main logo appears in the 1st episode.
• On the pilot to The Amazing Digital Circus, the logo is superimposed over the opening scene.

Technique: 2D CGI combined with 3D CGI from the characters.

Audio: An upbeat EDM tune.

Audio Variant: In Meta Runner season 3 (the 1st episode also has the main intro as well), and the pilot episode to The Amazing Digital Circus, the opening theme plays on over the logo.

Availability: Used on content on the GLITCH channel, including Meta Runner Season 2 and episode 1 of Season 3, Sunset Paradise, the first six episodes of Murder Drones and the pilot of The Amazing Digital Circus.

4th Logo (March 29, 2024-)

Visuals: It starts similarly to the S2E6 Meta Runner variant, the letters of the word "GLITCH" appear one-by-one, but this time in a more bouncy manner, and in a different font. the screen glitches, leading to the characters from the proceeding shows appear on these banners:

• Murder Drones: Serial Designation N is seen with his wings out, striking a different salute pose. Then Uzi appears with her rail gun. She shoots it, which makes her bounce back.
• The Amazing Digital Circus: Pomni is seemingly launched up from below, and panics, flailing her arms around. After this, Caine jumps up and strikes a pose.

After that, a new version of the Glitch Productions logo (the skull is more simplified and now resembles a human skull, and the word "GLITCH" is smaller and in a different font) forms against a new version of the patterned background, the logo then shines.

Technique: Same as before.

Audio: A retro-inspired synthesized jingle.

Availability: Debuted in episode 7 of Murder Drones and episode 2 of The Amazing Digital Circus.
