Background

Go Video was a pre-cert VHS distributor that was founded back in 1979 in South London by a couple of record company executives, one of them being Des Dolan. It was formerly known as "Video 7" which originally released vintage films (usually being horror) but are also known to be in near extinction to this day. The company later was relaunched as "GO Video" in early 1981 and began releasing mainly gore and exploit adult horror films or known as alleged "video nasties" which a few of their gore titles such as Cannibal Holocaust and SS Experiment Camp ending up on the DPP 39 list. Due to this, they became known as one of the several most controversial video labels in the pre-cert era. The company was shut down in 1983.

(Early 1981-1983)

Logo: On a black background, a globe of the Earth spinning fades in, with the POV being towards the North Pole. 2 large turquoise/creme white lines draw opposite to each other, with their directions also switched. 4 more vertical lines draw and transform into the text "GO" in large, blocky letters. 2 smaller lines, with the colors inverted, draw in below as well and transform into the text "VIDEO" in the same font. As it finishes drawing, the globe then zooms in, spinning with a trail effect. When it disappears, the text then briefly switches colors before a blue copy zooms towards the screen. Then we fade out.

FX/SFX: The formation of the logo text and the globe spinning and zooming in.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Extremely rare. Seen on the original UK pre-cert releases of Cannibal Holocaust and SS Experiment Camp, among other titles.
