Background

Grubhub is a Chicago-based mobile food delivery app. It was originally founded in 2004 as an alternative to paper menus. Over the years, they have secured millions of funding and used it to acquire competitors such as Dotmenu, DiningIn, Delivered Dish, among others. In June 2014, they began offering mobile delivery for restaurants that lacked a delivery service. Six years later, in 2020, Just Eat Takeaway purchased the company for $7.3 billion.

In recent times, they have become infamous for their "Delivery Dance" commercials, which has spawned numerous internet memes and parodies.

Visuals: Essentially consists of the company name in white and with a trademark symbol on the top right and its byline "grub what you love" underneath. Its animation varies depending on the commercial.

Variants:

  • On the infamous "Delivery Dance", the company name pops out, followed by the words in the byline one at a time.
  • On "Wiggle for Perks", the logo bounces and wipes in from the left. The letters are not synchronized with the former animation. Afterwards, the byline drops in below.
  • On "Perkwalk Panera", the logo and byline fade in and drop with the latter first in this sequence. Both are also shrunken and placed on the bottom of the screen to make room for a $5 perk deal.
  • On the "Magic Box" ads, the logo, without its byline, is shown on a red delivery bag.
    • One of these ads within this series of commercials adds "Order contact-free delivery." underneath the logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A doorbell ring alongside a group of people shouting the company name in a high-pitched voice. The end tail of the commercial plays over this jingle.

Audio Variant: On one of the "Magic Box" ads, there is a short delay between the doorbell ring and the chorus.

Availability: It made one of its earliest appearances on the "Magic Box" ads and was later seen on the infamous "Delivery Dance", "Wiggle for Perks", and "Perkwalk Panera".
