Background

Guerrilla Games is a Dutch video game development studio based in Amsterdam. The studio was originally founded as Lost Boys Games in 2000 by Hermen Hulst and Arjan Brussee, before being re-established as Guerrilla in 2003. The studio is best known for the Killzone and Horizon series for PlayStation consoles. Guerrilla would be purchased by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2005, and is currently part of the SCE Worldwide Studios group.

Lost Boys Games/Formula

1st Logo (March 28-October 18, 2002)

Logo: On a black background, we see a green, roadsign-like diamond with a white drawing of a cactus inside and a piece of the ground below it. The diamond has a black border with white outline. Below is a black rounded rectangle with the white text "FORMULA" inside.

Variants:

  • On Rhino Rumble, the logo is on a white background, with "LOST BOYS GAMES" below the "FORMULA" text.
  • On Invader, the logo flips in, and flickers around as if it was on old, deteriorated film, complete with film scratches.
  • On Black Belt Challenge, the text "Licensed by Nintendo" is seen below in a medieval-esque font.

FX/SFX: None, aside from the animation on Invader.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Uncommon. Seen on Rhino Rumble for Game Boy Color, as well as Invader and Black Belt Challenge on Game Boy Advance.

Logo: We see a cubic, stylized "G" symbol, beside the name "GUERRILLA" in modified Authority Regular. "DEVELOPED BY" is seen above, with the byline "GUERRILLA IS A MEDIA REPUBLIC COMPANY" below it all.

Variants:

  • On ShellShock: Nam '67, the logo is yellow.
  • On Killzone, the logo is gray with white lines of light scanning over it.

FX/SFX: None, aside from the animation on Killzone.

Music/Sounds: On ShellShock: Nam '67, a menacing wind sting. On Killzone, none.

Availability: Uncommon. Seen on ShellShock: Nam '67 for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Windows, and Killzone for PlayStation 2.

Logo: Same as the previous logo, except this time including only the "G" symbol.

  • Killzone: Liberation: "Developed by Guerrilla" is seen below the symbol.
  • Killzone 2: We move through a spinning matrix of futuristic, gray-orange bars which stop in the middle of the screen to form the G in dark gray, which then is covered by yellow splatters of paint. The logo dissipates back into pieces while zooming toward us.
  • Killzone 3: The Sony Computer Entertainment notice flickers to a red CRT and becomes a range of indecipherable symbols (assumedly the language of the Helghast, the rival empire from the Killzone series).
