Background

HanWay Films is an independent British international sales, distribution and marketing company specializing in theatrical feature films. On August 25, 2022, Cohen Media Group acquired the company.[1]

1st Logo (1999-2005)

Visuals: On a white background, multiple lines, either transparent or red, thin or thick, are seen moving from the top and bottom of the screen with multiple copies of a white "HanWay" in either an outline or bold format seen. The lines and the text copies meet at the center where the thick and thin red lines move and fade up and down respectively and the unfilled text gains a red color. The company's website link also in red then fades in below.

Variant: On To Kill a King, the website is omitted.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: A few movies that are known to use this logo are Help! I'm a Fish and To Kill a King.

2nd Logo (2005-2019)

Visuals: It's simply "HanWayF I L M S" with a thin line underneath against a black background.

Variant: On Black Death, the line is omitted.

Technique: A still digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Audio Variant: On international prints of Sunshine Cleaning, the Overture Films music plays over this logo due to a plastering error.

Availability: Can be seen on A Dangerous Method, A Royal Night Out, Blade of the Immortal, Severance, among others.

3rd Logo (2019-)

Visuals: A closed hand emerges from a black background, revealing a set of letters on its palm. It tosses the letters onto the screen with them rearranging to form the company name like before, as the hand leaves out into the darkness. Finally, a line (albeit thicker than the last logo) is drawn underneath the text from the center.

Technique: A mix of live-action and 3D animation.

Audio: The opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Can be seen on First Love, A Banquet, Seance, and more from this period.
