Background
This is the production company of Harvey Levin, a television producer, legal analyst, celebrity reporter, and former lawyer. He is also the founder of celebrity news website TMZ.
1st Logo (September 2, 2002-2008)
Nickname: "The Scales of Justice"
Logo: Against a smoky gray-tan background with curve-like patterns, we see a skin-colored scale of justice in a rectangular frame balanced in the center. The text "HARVEY LEVIN" and "PRODUCTIONS" are shown below in the same color.
FX/SFX: None.
Music/Sounds: A six-note pizzicato string tune.
Availability: Extinct. Seen on episodes of Celebrity Justice and episodes of TMZ on TV from the period.
Editor's Note: None.
2nd Logo (2008-)
Nicknames: "I'm a Lawyer!", "Harvey in Jail"
Logo: We see the letters "HARVEY LEVIN PRODUCTIONS" arranged on a black BG, with the N being placed last. The camera then zooms out to show that the name is written on a slate with a B&W photo of Levin holding it, showing that he is a prison inmate (a bottle of alcohol is in his right hand, as well). He exclaims "I'm a lawyer!" (made famous by Star Jones Reynolds, former host of The View), and his picture is taken. The flash effect fades to the Paramedia logo.
Variants: At least three episodes of TMZ on TV have variants:
- In one 2012 episode, Levin instead says "I'm gay!" (utilizing a soundbite from the episode proper). A rainbow also forms behind him.
- An earlier episode has Star Jones herself in place of Levin, saying it in her voice.
- On a September 21, 2009 episode of TMZ on TV, Levin says “I’m a pescatarian!” instead.
- On one episode of TMZ on TV, Levin says "WHAAAAAAAATTTT?!?" instead.
FX/SFX: The last letter being arranged, and Levin's mouth moving in a similar fashion to Flash animations on JibJab.com. On Raq Rants, none.
Music/Sounds: The same music from before, and Levin saying his phrase. A camera flash is heard at the end. On Raq Rants, the closing theme.
Availability: Current. Seen on more recent episodes of TMZ on TV. It was also seen on Raq Rants.
Editor's Note: Levin's voice and the overall nature of the logo itself may catch someone off guard, but it's a funny one.
