Logo (June 13, 1995-August 2, 2005)

Visuals: On a black background, a white flash appears. Nine lines appear out of the flash, four of them blue, another four purple, and one red. The lines spread out a little, then the words "H I F I" and "STEREO" appear above and below the logo, respectively.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A reversed cymbal crash, then an echoing whoosh, along with LFE vibrations and a microphone feedback in the end.

Availability: Seen on most Columbia TriStar VHS tapes of TV shows, as well as promotional tapes (except for the demo VHS versions of As Good as It Gets and Gattaca, which use the Surround Sound logo instead) and some movies released by the company on VHS (mainly pre-1990's films from companies other than Columbia Pictures and TriStar Pictures).

  • Examples for this logo include The Quick and the Dead (1995), Mixed Nuts, Party of Five, Bear in the Big Blue House VHS releases (including the original eight volumes), The Muppet Movie, Dragon Tales VHS tapes, Immortal Beloved, The Indian in the Cupboard, The Nuttiest Nutcracker, some demo VHS tapes of Kermit's Swamp Years, Love and a Bullet (before the 2001 CTHE logo) and The Berenstain Bears (2003 version) VHSs.
  • The logo made its final appearance on Dragon Tales: Sing and Dance in Dragon Land!, which was released on August 2, 2005.

Legacy: Much like the Surround Sound logo, this one is fairly popular among Sony fans.
