Background
Hi-Tech Video was a Greek video distributor.
(1982-1990)
Logo: On a black background, we see "Hi-Tech" in a stylized, multicolored font consisting of the colors blue, magenta, orange, pink, and cyan zoom in to the center of the screen, leaving a short afterimage in the process. The "Hi-Tech" turns red, and "VIDEO" in a different font but using the same colors zooms out from the bottom of the screen, leaving an afterimage as well. The "VIDEO" turns golden yellow, and a cerulean blue laurel wreath is "drawn" around the words. Once drawn, the afterimage of the wreath zooms in again, fading into the already existent wreath. No other movement occurs until the logo fades to black.
Technique: Scanimation.
Music/Sounds: A recording of the prelude of Gayane, composed by Aram Khachaturian is featured in this logo. The audio itself starts from a few measures into the piece.
Availability: Check Greek SECAM tapes from the 1980s for this logo (of course, since sometime in the '90s, Greece uses PAL).
Legacy: For a company called "Hi-Tech", the 60s-esque animation and film quality sure seem anything but. This logo has also scared some people, due to the flashing, gaudiness, and fanfare.
