Background

High Five Entertainment (originally High Five Productions) is a production company based in Nashville, TN founded in 1983. It focused on television programming such as musical events, non-scripted series, award shows, among others.

1st (Known) Logo (1992-mid/late 1990s)

Visuals: It begins with a drawing of a group of people with their mouths opened up (looking as if they were all in shock and awe). The camera quickly pans back to show that they were part of an audience of an even bigger group of people. They all fade into several dots, revealing that they are all part of an audience at a circus arena. As that happens, a woman jumping off a trapeze stretching her arms out to a man jumping upside down and reaching for the woman are seen. And it shows that the circus scene is inside a box with the words "HIGH" and "FIVE" above and below the circus scene respectively, with "PRODUCTIONS" seen below "FIVE". As it scrolls back, a man doing a somersault jump spins around in place above the woman. All three of the people move to the inside of the circus image as the box stops in place.

Variants:

  • There are two versions of the animated logo: one is shown in a green and orange color scheme while another has a blue and black color scheme.
  • On the music special The Women of Country, an in-credit version exists with the logo (that fades in after the show footage disappears) near the text "A HIGH FIVE PRODUCTION IN ASSOCIATION WITH LONGSTREET FILM CORPORATION" with a copyright notice below "© (YEAR) HIGH FIVE PRODUCTIONS, INC.".

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The logo starts out with the sound of the audience gasping and applauding. As it turns into the arena, a drumroll is heard which goes into a three-note synth theme with quick drumbeats. Although it has appeared with the closing theme of the program as well as another version being silent.

Availability: The green and orange version appears on This is Garth Brooks (the original TV broadcast of the special has the closing theme to the program while the VHS release from Liberty Home Video has the actual logo theme itself) while the blue and black version appeared on This Is Michael Bolton.
