Background

Huawei is a Chinese multinational technology corporation headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. The company designs, develops, manufactures and sells telecommunications equipment, consumer electronics, smart devices and various rooftop solar power products. The corporation was founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei, a former officer in the People's Liberation Army (PLA). Initially focused on manufacturing phone switches, Huawei has expanded its business to include building telecommunications networks, providing operational and consulting services and equipment to enterprises inside and outside of China, and manufacturing communications devices for the consumer market. Huawei has deployed its products and services in more than 170 countries and areas.

1st Logo (2012-2016)

Visuals: On a black background, a purple/red/orange wisp emerges and flies past the camera. The wisp flies to the center of the screen and forms the Huawei logo (an eight-pointed flower-like object in a red/purple gradient) The "HUAWEI" text forms via a two-side blur wipe under the logo. While the system boots up, the logo shines.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A whoosh, followed by an energetic four-note tune (Huawei's signature jingle, A-F#-G-D) which echoes. The jingle was composed by Musikvergnuegen.

Availability: Seen on early Huawei phones, such as ones from the Ascend D, E, G, P, and Y series.

2nd Logo (6 April 2016-2018)

Visuals: A blurry background focuses to reveal bubbles floating up on a blue background. All the bubbles absorb into the center, leaving only a large bubble. The bubble zooms in a little bit before the background fades out, revealing the Huawei logo (with the symbol now in orange) in a blue rotating aura. The aura fades out, and the logo shines the same way as the previous logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A rising bass note, followed by a calmer version of the Huawei jingle.

Availability: Seen on later Huawei phones, released in between the Huawei P9/P9 Plus and the P20/P20 Pro

3rd Logo (16 November 2018-)

Visuals: On a black background, the "HUAWEI" text (albeit in a more pointy font) flickers in letter by letter, embossed in darkness. After this, two blue lights shine on the top-right and bottom-left corners of the text, making the text fully saturated. The text stays for a while as the system boots up.

Technique: CGI; far less effort than the previous logos.

Audio: A shortened version of the theme from the previous screen.

Availability: Seen on currently produced phones from Huawei, starting from the Huawei Mate 20, 20 X and Mate 20 Pro. Also seen on older Huawei phones upgraded to EMUI 9 and later.
