Background

In 2005, Atari, Inc. sold Humongous Entertainment to its parent company Infogrames. Within this deal, the remaining employees of the company were laid off as Infogrames transferred the assets over to a newly-formed holding business - Humongous, Inc. Atari, Inc. continued a partnership with Humongous, and signed an agreement with them to exclusively distribute the company's games in North America through March 2006, which was later extended through March 2007.

Humongous soon re-released the Junior Adventure titles in 2008 on their own, and later partnered with Majesco Entertainment to release them on the Wii. Atari Europe continued to publish and distribute their titles in European territories. Atari, Inc. later published ports of their games on IOS devices.

In 2013, Humongous, Inc. was one of the subsidiaries of Atari to file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection in the United States. In July of that year, various assets held by Atari including the Junior Adventures titles and the Humongous brand were sold to Tommo. Tommo relaunched Humongous' website in 2014 and re-released the Junior Adventure series on Steam, and later on consoles such as the Nintendo Switch.

1st Logo (2007-2014)

Visuals: On a white background, there is the word "Humongous" in a modern-like font with an orange circle covering the "H".

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the background is black.
  • Sometimes, there's copyright information below the logo.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Appears on many titles from Humongous' properties, including the Wii ports of Pajama Sam In: Don't Fear the Dark (originally released as Pajama Sam In: No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside), Spy Fox in Dry Cereal, Freddi Fish: Kelp Seed Mystery (originally released as Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds), and Backyard Sports titles from 2007 until 2010.

2nd Logo (2014-)

Visuals: Same as the 3rd Humongous Entertainment logo, but the outside of the logo is blue, the "H" and "E" are yellow and the company name is, again, in a different font (Gill Sans Ultra Bold), facing inwards, and is now colored white.

Variant: Nintendo Switch versions of some of their games had the logo smaller on a black background. It also plasters the 1996 logo as a result. This does not appear on the Switch re-release of Pajama Sam in No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside, which goes straight into the game.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: Either none or the sounds from the time period.

Availability: Appears on all Humongous games re-released in 2014, plastering the older logos.

3rd Logo (July 4, 2016-)

Visuals: Same as the 4th Humongous Entertainment logo, but it's redone and reanimated in wide-screen and uses the new Humongous logo. When the logo pops, the background fades to white and the logo doesn't shine.

Technique: A mix of 2D animation and CGI.

Audio: Same as the Humongous logo from the time period.

Availability: Was featured on Humongous' social media pages on July 4, 2016, and also appeared on trailers for Nintendo Switch re-releases of Freddi Fish and the Case of the Stolen Conch Shell and Putt-Putt Travels Through Time and the re-releases themselves.
