Background

Hyperion Pictures (also known as Hyperion Films, Hyperion Studios or Hyperion Animation) is an American film production and animation company founded by Thomas L. Wilhite and Willard Carroll. Wilhite was previously the vice president of film and television at The Walt Disney Company, and the company name is likely derived from its former Los Angeles location of Hyperion Avenue. The company has produced live-action films and series but is better-known for its animated productions, like The Brave Little Toaster and The Proud Family, produced by the joint-venture Jambalaya Studio. The company is still active, but hasn't produced any new content since 2007.

Logo (October 31, 1993-August 17, 2007)

Visuals: On a black background, a red rectangle with the word "H Y P E R I O N" in gold appears. There is a dot inside the "O".

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the background is lit up by a spotlight.
  • On Playing By Heart, the rectangle is in dark red, and the text is in silver.
  • On The Oz Kids and Itsy Bitsy Spider, the white text "IN ASSOCIATION WITH" fades in underneath.

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: None, or the closing theme of the show/movie.

Availability: Seen at the end of all three The Brave Little Toaster movies, but only on VHS releases. The DVD release doesn't have it, nor do the pre-1998 releases. It was also seen on The Adventures of Tom Thumb and Thumbelina, as well as the TV shows Bone Chillers, Life With Louie, and Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child. This was last seen to date at the end of Marigold.
