Background: IFD Films and Arts is a company from Hong Kong, founded in 1973 by Joseph Lai, which specialized in B-movies, especially the movies of Godfrey Ho.
1st Logo
(1980s)
IFD Films and Arts
Nickname: "Hong Kong Torch Lady"
Logo: On the top of a cliff, we see a woman in white pants and top, with a long white veil on her head, holding a torch with a bright light at the end. The sky is very dark. The camera zooms in and the words, that are in orange and in the art-deco font:
IFD Films and Arts Limited presents a Joseph Lai release
slide in from the bottom, and the last line slides in from the left.
FX/SFX: The zooming in and the sliding in of the text. The woman is in live action. The whole logo is an obvious knockoff of the Columbia Pictures logo.
Music/Sounds: If ripping off the Columbia logo wasn't enough, the music is directly taken from Star Wars (from the part when the Death Star blows up), with the end cut of and replaced with some different fanfare, closed by some drums.
Availability: Very rare. Mostly seen on movies made by Godfrey Ho. It's preserved on Ninja the Protector and Ninja of the Magnificence.
Editor's Note: None.
2nd Logo (1980s-2000s?)
_IFD Films and Arts (Variant)IFD Films and Arts Limited
Nicknames: "Focus Features' Ancestor", "IFD Bokeh"
Logo: On an animated black background with a bokeh effect, the purple words:
IFD Films and Arts Limited presents a Joseph Lai release
fade in with the company name in Chinese below it. After a while, the text fades out, leaving us with the bokeh background before the logo ends.
FX/SFX: The animated bokeh background, text fading in and out.
Musics/Sounds: A triumphant fanfare.
Availability: Common, it can be found on copies of the infamous Space Thunder Kids, Beauty & Warrior, and Ali Baba and the Gold Raiders.
Editor's Note: None.
