Background

INI Entertainment Group was a television syndicator/distributor that was founded in 1984 by Irv Hollender as Independent Network Inc. after he left Lorimar Television. It then acquired the assets of Film Ventures International in 1985, and then its big break came in 1986, when it partnered with the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling to distribute its own syndicated program for four years. In 1990, it was renamed to INI Entertainment Group. INI was then folded in 1997 into Liberation Entertainment. Its library is currently owned today by Multicom Entertainment Group.

1st Logo (1985-1990)

Visuals: On a space background, there is a purple globe with magenta continents zooming out. The globe then revolves and a blue streak appears with the silver TV tube with the yellow letters "INI" flying in from the center of the globe, which lands at the top right. The words "INDEPENDENT NETWORK INC." appears in an arch formation that fades in below the globe.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A dark hum, and a xylophone, with a whoosh sound, ending in a 5-note triumphant theme. Sometimes it was silent.

Availability: Seen at the end of INI's programs like GLOW and The Adventures of Candy Claus. This may be plastered by a Multicom logo on newer prints.

2nd Logo (1990-1997)

Visuals: On a blue starry background, there is a 3D version of the Earth globe rotating. The CGI TV tube, which was in silver, flies in and moves toward the globe. The tube pans and then there is the gold letters "INI", now in an Art Deco font, fly in, with one copy becoming the arch, and the other copy being moved to the TV tube. The TV tube, complete with the "INI" letters rotate from the screen and settle to the top right, and the arched "INI", from the bottom of the globe continues to zoom out. The word "ENTERTAINMENT GROUP, INC." in a plain font fades in with an arch effect, which stands next to the gold "INI". The globe then stops rotating.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A synth humming theme with some chimes at the end.

Availability: Seen at the start of INI's programs from the era, like International Family Classics and Sherlock Holmes and the Valley of Fear. This may be plastered by a Multicom logo on newer prints.
