Background

This is the production arm of ITV Tyne Tees, formerly Tyne Tees Productions.

Tyne Tees Productions

1st Logo (January 15, 1959-1964)

Logo: The three "T"'s from the 1959 ident are shown underneath "A Tyne Tees Television" and "PRODUCTION" respectively.

Variants:

  • A superimposed variant exists. The background may fade to black.
  • On news programmes, "NEWS" replaces "TELEVISION".
  • An outside broadcast variant exists, consisting of said words next to the "T"'s symbol and the top and bottom text in an arc.
  • On A Matter of Degrees, the logo zooms in.
  • On Solemn High Midnight Mass from Ushaw College, the bottom text now reads "OUTSIDE BROADCAST PRESENTATION".
  • on Your Heritage, "FEATURE PRODUCTION" appears on the bottom.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Extinct as lot of these programmes have been wiped out. It appeared on Your Heritage, Rocket Rescue, Rehearsal Room, among others.

2nd Logo (1964-July 16, 1970)

Logo: The "T"'s, now thicker, are within a outlined tube shape. "A" and "PRODUCTION" appears above and underneath the logo. Additionally, the channel name may appear instead underneath.

Variants:

  • A superimposed variant exists.
  • On Face the Press, the logo is inverted and filled in. It is also within another outlined tube shape, contining the words "TYNE TEES" and "TELEVISION" wrapped over and underneath the logo.
  • In the logo's later years, it is on a blue background.
  • On Turn-up for Tony, the text "INDEPENDENT TELEVISION FOR THE NORTH EAST OF ENGLAND" is added underneath the channel name.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Near extinction. It appeared on A Kind of Heaven , Turn-up for Tony, We are Responsible by Law (for the later variant), among others. The logo briefly appared on the ITV Tyne Tees’ 60th Anniversary programme.

Logo: A still version of the 1970 ident with no modifications whatsoever and "COLOUR" was shifted up.

Variants:

  • Starting in 1975, a copyright stamp below, reading "© Trident Television Ltd. [YEAR]", added underneath.
  • Following the 1982 split, the copyright now reads "© Tyne Tees Television Ltd. [YEAR]".
  • Sometimes, "COLOUR" is removed. In some cases, the copyright notice is also omitted.
  • On Meanwhile Back in Sunderland, the logo is white on a red background.
  • On The Amazing World of Kreskin, the logo is white on a dark blue background.
  • On Farming Outlook, the logo is on a green background.
  • Programmes co-produced with Channel 4 shrinks the Tyne Tees symbol to allow room for the following text to display:

  • On The Mind of David Berglas, the logo is paired with the 1982 Channel 4 logo with a white slash separating the two. Underneath them is text reading "A TYNE TEES PRODUCTION FOR CHANNEL FOUR".
  • A Border Television co-production variant has the Tyne Tees logo on the left. Underneath both logos is "co-production".
  • An extremely rare co-production variant exists where the logo is paired with six other ITV franchise logos on a blue background. Tyne Tee's logo appears on the top of the screen and is the largest amongst the other logos.

  • On the Newcastle United NUFC 1993 - 94 Season Review VHS, the logo is shrunken and positioned on the top section of the screen. Underneath it is "FOR NEWCASTLE UNITED FOOTBALL COMPANY LTD." and the copyright date.

  • Appeared on shows and TV movies from the period such as Quayside, Crosswits, and The Essential Guide to Parties, among others.
  • However, the DVD releases mostly cut off this logo, so it could be found on old tapes of Wingless Bird and Round Tower.
  • This ident also appears on a 1997 UK VHS release titled Newcastle United NUFC 1996 - 97 Season Review: Road to Europe as well.

8th Logo (March 9, 1998-September 3, 2000)

Logo: Once again, it is a still version of its respective ident. The wording and font in this logo is the same as before, but the logo now uses the 1998 Tyne Tees logo.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, there is a credit to ITV (and with the 1989 ITV logo below until October 4, 1998) or Channel 4, sometimes with a copyright notice below and/or the ITV URL on the bottom right saying: "www.itv.co.uk".
  • On the 1998 UK VHS release titled Newcastle United NUFC 1997 - 98 Season Review: The Toon, the notice now reads "Production for Newcastle United Football Company Plc". Additionally, "Copyright 1998" is added below below.
  • On the 2000 UK VHS release titled Newcastle United NUFC 1999 - 2000 Season Review: United Under Robson, the notice below the channel name now reads "TYNE TEES TELEVISION Production for Newcastle United Football Company Plc" and "(C) MM" below, respectively.

Availability: Ultra rare. It appeared on the Newcastle United NUFC season review tapes from this period, which are out of print. It also appeared on The 100 Greatest TV Ads. When Channel 4 reaired said programme in 2004, it was plastered by the 10th logo.

9th Logo (September 4, 2000-October 27, 2002)

Logo: The background from the 2000 ident has additional transparent circles added around the 2000 Tyne Tees logo, whose stripe is now smaller where its left, fading section is visible. Underneath it is the stacked text "A Tyne Tees Television Production".

Variant: Programmes co-produced with Channel 4 has the logo positioned to the left.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Ultra rare, it appears on the Newcastle United NUFC 2000 - 01 Season Review tape and 100 Greatest episodes from this period such as "100 Greatest Kids TV Shows" and "100 Greatest TV Moments from Hell".

10th Logo (2002-2004)

Nicknames: "Purple TTTV"

Logo: We see the same Granada purple end card with the corporate logo used by all other Granada-owned regions, however, the shadow copies are of the 2000-2002 TTTV symbol, and the square has the white 2000-2002 TTTV logo inside with the text reads "A Tyne Tees Television Production".

Variants:

  • On Ultimate Sci-Fi Top 10, the text was changed to "A Tyne Tees Television Production for Sky Television" with no Granada logo underneath.
  • For shows that they produced for Channel 4, the 1999-2004 Channel 4 logo appears alongside the 2000 TTTV logo.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None or the ending theme to the show.

Availability: Ultra rare.

  • It appears on the channel's programmes and documentaries such as As They Were Famous and Westenders, among others until 2004.
  • Like the previous logos, this logo is still intact on a few releases that have gone out of print: the Newcastle United NUFC season reviews of 2001-02 and 2002-03.

ITV Tyne Tees Productions

(2004-2005)

Logo: Same as the regular ITV franchise logo where it is set on a smoky blue background with blue outlined squares scattered around. The difference here is that the ITV Tyne Tees logo is used here.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Extremely rare, only known to appear on DVD releases of the Newcastle United NUFC season reviews from 2003-04 and 2004-05. After the latter, filmNOVA Sports handled production of said series.
