Background

Igra TV is a Russian television company founded in 1990. Notably, it produces game shows like Что? Где? Когда? (What? Where? When?) and Брейн-ринг (Brain Ring).

1st Logo (December 8, 1990-June 9, 2001)

Visuals: On a black background, a picture of an owl's head slides in from the bottom, followed by the crown sliding in from the top and onto an owl's head, then the golden laurel wreath wipes in from the right, surrounding owl's head. After few seconds, the logo flips to a live-action footage of a close-up of an owl, and the signature of Vladimir Voroshilov in gold wipes in below. The signature then fades out, and the owl's eye shines, followed by the shining words ""ИГРА"" in the retro font below.

Variant: Sometimes, the word "ФИРМА" fades in on the top-left corner at the same time as ""ИГРА"".

Technique: A mix of computer effects and live-action.

Audio: A weird-sounding creak/drumroll, a triumphant fanfare, followed by Hermann's aria "What is our life? A game!" from The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, which later became the opening theme for Что? Где? Когда?.

Audio Variant: Sometimes, the Hermann's aria is slightly different.

Availability: It was appeared in handful of shows, like Что? Где? Когда? (What? Where? When?), and Брейн-ринг (Brain-Ring, which has a Lithuanian counterpart, Protmušis (Mindfight)).

2nd Logo (March 15, 2002- )

Visuals: On a white blurry background, there are three transparent lines (two horizontal and one vertical) moving across. A rectangle outline flips in to the top left-corner, the word "ИГРА" in the Banco font then fades in inside of the rectangle, followed by another, but shorter, rectangle outline flipping in into the opposite spot until the overlapping area is square-shaped and more transparent lines appear, followed by "ТВ" in the same font fading in inside, and the overlapping area becomes textured with liquid metal. The lines fade out after the logo is almost finished, and the "ТЕЛЕКОМПАНИЯ" text blurs in afterwards.

Variants:

  • A variant can be seen on some of their widescreen programming made between 2011 and 2014 where the logo is zoomed in to fit the 16:9 aspect ratio.
  • In 2014, the logo was remastered and remade: extra lines don't appear, the lines move away after forming, the overlapping area is smoke-textured, and "ТЕЛЕКОМПАНИЯ" fades in while zooming slowly.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Two reversed cymbal crashes in sync with the animation.

Availability: Same as the first, but more common, and also appeared on Культурная революция (Cultural Revolution) and Мы и наука. Наука и мы (Us and Science. Science and Us). Since 2019, Что? Где? Когда? lacks any logos at the beginning, however, it's still seen on Мы и наука. Наука и мы. Постскриптум (Us and Science. Science and Us. Postscript).
