Background

International Broadcast Systems, Ltd. (IBS) was a film and television distribution company founded somewhere in 1988. Later on, it was eventually acquired by Mark Amin who ran and operated Trimark Pictures, folding the company into Trimark Television in 1991. The IBS/Trimark catalog is now owned by Lionsgate.

Logo (1988-1991)

Visuals: A box consisting of steel horizontal bars zooms out and slides away as a striped, chrome sphere emerges from it. On top of it, a transparent chrome panel falls down and overlaps with the top half of the object and, alongside the bottom bars, fly away from the screen. Simultaneously, the company's acronym in a serif font and horizontally aligned to the panels slides in between the sphere and horizontal bars. The ball, now with reflections, rotates on top of the text, becoming 2D and dodger blue after stopping. The company's full name, with "Ltd." added next to it, fades in below, pushing the logo slightly upwards to make room for "Distributed Internationally By".

Trivia: This logo is designed by Joe Rattan.^[1]

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Steel reflections start off the logo, followed by electronic beeping and clicking as the transparent panel appears. When the upper and lower panels fly away, a synthesized whoosh plays alongside a rising note held for the remainder of the logo. There is a short drum sting when the company's full name appears and then repeating, ascending notes afterwards.

Audio Variant: On Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future, the second part of the 1st Landmark Entertainment Group logo plays over it.

Availability: Seen on Addio al re, Keys To Freedom, and Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future.
