Background

Chiba Television Broadcasting Corporation (CTC, callsign JOCL-DTV) is a Japanese television station serving Chiba Prefecture, based in Chiba that signed on May 1, 1971 as the second UHF independent commercial broadcaster in the Kanto region after commencing test broadcasts on January 25th of that year.

1st ID (May 1, 1971-March 31, 2003)


Visuals:

  • Startup: On a white background, there is a red circle that shoots out rings as the map of Chiba Prefecture appears as it zooms in to reveal flowers, as well as some animal illustrations, a line of swans, a woman with a deer, a wooden plane, a river and some fish before fading to an illustration of CTC's headquarters in Chiba as the 1971 CTC logo appears, consisting of the words CTC in an italics and cursive-style font alongside the text "千葉テレビ放送" in blue at the bottom.
  • Closedown: On a white background, there is a red circle that reveals the map of Chiba Prefecture before fading into some flowers until the camera fades into a shot of a sailboat, some fish and a butterfly as it flies by to reveal more shots as a line of doves fly by as illustrations of Chiba during nighttime appear. After that, CTC's headquarters in Chiba appears during nighttime as the 1971 CTC symbol and wordmark in white zoom in on a blue background.

Audio: A gentle light-hearted theme.

2nd ID (April 1, 2003-November 30, 2008)

Visuals:

  • Startup: There is a shot of Chiba as the sun rises during daytime as the camera fades into more shots of Chiba as the callsigns "JOCL-TV", the text "46チャンネル" and the station information appears in white as it fades out to a scroll with all of the station's relay channel numbers before fading to white to reveal the 1971 CTC symbol in black with the words "ちばテレビ" in cyan & yellow and the CTC boy, with him being rendered in CGI with a red helmet and suit.
  • Closedown: There is a shot of Chiba as the moon rises as the camera fades into more shots of Chiba as the callsigns "JOCL-TV", the text "46チャンネル" and the station information appearing in white as it fades out to a scroll with all of the station's relay channel numbers before fading to white to reveal the 1971 CTC symbol in black with the words "ちばテレビ" in cyan & yellow and the CTC boy before fading to black.

Variant: Around 2006, the CTC logo was changed to the 2006 CTC symbol, consisting of the words チバテレビ in a cubic-style font with a heart in the middle of the katakana text, known as Chuba, which is the station's mascot as the CGI footage was cut short to make room for the station's DTV information.

Audio: A gentle harp and flute theme.

Audio Variant:

  • Around 2003, the startup music was rearranged.
  • Around 2006, the startup and closedown music were changed to a gentle upbeat theme and a rock theme respectively.
