Background

KAET is a PBS affiliate located in Phoenix, Arizona. The "AET" part of the name is meant to be pronounced as "Eight", which later became the network's branding name.

1st ID (1970-1982)

Unknown

2nd ID (1986-1995)

Visuals: Against a dull brown marble background is "KAET" in a giant gold typewriter font. Below that is "PHOENIX", in a much smaller font, but the same type, and above that is "A special presentation from", in the same font, even smaller, and italicized.

Technique: None. [possible misuse]

Audio: None.

Availability: Some old Arizona Collection series tapes from KAET may have it.


3rd ID (1988-1990)

Visuals: Over a black background, the logo starts with colored lines wiping in from left to right and then again, it then moves and then crashes into a 5 segment colored lines. The "8" and "KAET P H O E N I X" appears below.

Technique: The lines wiping and crashing. [possible misuse]

Audio: A piano-sounding tune.

Availability: Used as a local ID.


4th ID (1995-2004)


Visuals: Unknown

Trivia: This logo was animated at Rhonda Computer Graphics.

Technique: Unknown

Audio: The same music as the previous logo.

Availability: Unknown


Eight

ID (2006-)

Visuals: Against a maroon background with several gold "waves", a maroon rectangle with the PBS logo and "ei8ht" written on it in gold, turns into place. "A special presentation from" is written above.

Technique: The waves and the logo turning. [possible misuse]

Audio: A rather tense piano/string sounder.

Availability: Currently in use; seen on Arizona Stories, which can be seen on both KAET and KUAT in Tucson, Arizona. DVDs of said show may also carry the logo. This also appeared on NETA programs from Sacred Earth, including the eponymous program and Echoes of Creation.
