Background

In 1996, Nicolas Gaume bought back 100% of Mindscape Bordeaux, which then became Kalisto Entertainment. English, American, Japanese and Chinese offices were opened and between 1997 and 1998. In June 2000, the company acquired the US studio DayLight Productions and renamed it Kalisto Entertainment USA Inc. The company eventually filed for bankruptcy in April 2002; several former members of the American arm went on to form BigSky Interactive.

1st Logo (September 30, 1997-2001)

Visuals: There is the worn angular blue letter "k" taking the screen, with "kalisto entertainment" written over. There are many animated variants.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: Depending on the variant.

Availability: Seen on Nightmare Creatures and its sequel, Dark Earth, the video game adaptation of The Fifth Element and Ultim@te Race Pro.

2nd Logo (November 17, 2001)

Visuals: A bright red splash takes place and reveals a gold spot. The picture slowly fades in, showing a bear in orange sunglasses, sitting in the frame. The name is below on white form. The logo then fades in multiple light splashes, first gold, then purple.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A loud air-flying sound followed by a muffled robot voice that says the company's name.

Availability: Seen on New York Race. It can also be found in the files of the PS2 and Gamecube versions of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, though it goes unused as, by the time it was released, Kalisto's American division became BigSky Interactive.
