Background

Kansai Television Co., Ltd. (KTV, callsign JODX-DTV, previously known as Kansai Telecasting Corporation until 2018) is a Japanese television station based in Osaka. The station signed on November 22, 1958 by number of investors, including the Hankyu Electric Railway. It serves as the western flagship of the Fuji TV-run Fuji News Network (FNN) and Fuji Network System (FNS) and serves as one of the dual networks major contributors, producing and/or distributing a number of programs.

Animated Logos

1st Logo (July 4, 2003)

Visuals: On a white background there is the 1964 Kansai TV logo, consisting of a diamond-shaped cubic number 8 in black on an square outline with the wordmark on the bottom. Atop of the logo is Hachiemon, a shapeshifting white egg with big red lips that serves as the station's mascot since 1995. On the right of him is Kansai TV's slogan "カンテーレ" (Kantele) and on the bottom of the logo is KTV's website link "www.ktv.co.jp" before fading out.

Technique: A still digital graphic.

Audio: The 1997 KTV jingle, consisting of a female soloist singing "Kantele".

Availability: Seen on the video game Hachiemon.

2nd Logo (2006-2015)

Visuals: On a gray background there is the 1964 KTV logo, albeit with the Japanese wordmark of its full name (関西テレビ放送) on the bottom, in black. Hachiemon walks from the right until he stops at the symbol and shoots out the station's slogan "カンテーレ" before fading to black.

Technique: Digital traditional animation.

Audio: Some cartoon-like sound effects.

Availability: Seen on KTV's video releases from 2006 to 2015, such as Team Batista.

Print Logos

1st Logo (October 5, 1965-March 29, 2015)

Visuals: Superimposed on the show's opening and/or ending sequence is the 1964 Kansai TV logo, albeit vertically, without the square, usually in white.

Technique: A superimposed hand-painted and later, digital graphic.

Audio: The opening and/or ending theme of the show.

Availability: First seen on KTV's first production, Matsumoto seichō series. However, footage from that show has yet to be found.

2nd Logo (March 30, 2015-)

Visuals: Superimposed on the show's opening and/or ending sequence is the 2015 Kansai TV logo, which consists of and upside-down purple 8 with a shadow as well as the words "カンテレ" in gray on the right with the letter "カ" having a stroke usually in white or its usual colors.

Technique: A superimposed digital graphic.

Audio: The opening and/or ending theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on KTV's productions from 2015 onwards, such as Fight! Bookstore Girl.
