Background

Kideo Video was formed as a joint venture of Karl-Lorimar Home Video, DIC Animation City and LBS Communications to distribute kids and animated videos. This was the second in a line of Lorimar sublabels, following Scholastic-Lorimar Home Video. DIC would later launch its home video label in 1986 with Golden Book Video.

1st Logo (prototype logo) (1985-1986)

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability:

  • This is a prototype logo, as it appears on earlier video releases of M.A.S.K..
  • It also appears on the 1986 UK VHS release of GoBots from The Video Collection.

2nd Logo (1986-1988?)

Visuals: On a white-pink gradient background, eight stripes, colored blue and yellow, come in from both the left and right. "Kideo" then writes itself out in the same red cursive font as before, then "Video", in the same font and color, zooms in as the splotches of confetti from before pop up.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on kids releases of Karl-Lorimar/Lorimar Home Video tapes, such as M.A.S.K., The Care Bears, and Inspector Gadget.
