Background

Kim Lợi Productions is a music recording studio in Ho Chi Minh City founded in the early 1990s. It was the earliest in Vietnam and suffered pressure from the influx of overseas music programs.

1st Logo (1990's)

Visuals: The logo starts off with the emerald-colored texts "Kim Lợi Studio" and "T.H production" sliding in from the sides of the screens and rolling out against a red brick background. White Vietnamese text comes up from the bottom of the screen.

Technique: A mix of CGI and computer animation.

Audio: An excerpt from "Tinh Nghe Sy" by Diva Viet, which was distributed by the company.

Availability: Seen on at least one release, which is Những tình khúc vượt thời gian 01 - Biệt ly.

2nd Logo (1990's)


Visuals: On a gray static picture of a water ripple is the emerald-colored text "Kim Lợi" in the top-right corner of the screen and "Production" in the right-center of the screen.

Technique: None. [possible misuse]

Audio: Same as the 1st logo.

Availability: Seen on at least one production, which is Những tình khúc vượt thời gian 02 - Một thuở yêu đàn.

3rd Logo (1997)


Visuals: The logo begins with a light blue background containing stars. An explosion occurs on the center of the screen with the logo, consisting of the 3D text "kimlợi", along with an upside-down reflection of said text in a darker shade and "PRODUCTIONS" in blue and yellow, sandwiched between the 3D text and reflection, zooming in from the explosion.

Technique: Simple computer animation and chroma key.

Audio: A dramatic futuristic theme with zaps, whooshes and twinkling sounds thrown in it.

Availability: Only seen on the 1997 VHS release of Đóa Hoa Vô Thường.

4th Logo (1999-2002)


Visuals: On a starfield is the text "Kim Lợi Production", in emerald, rapidly zoom in with a trail-effect residue. The text zooms in and we see the entire company name sweeping across the screen. The text then zooms out into the starfield with a trail effect.

Technique: Analog computer effects.

Audio: A heavenly crystal-like tune that sounds like the beginning of the opening theme of a breakfast television programme or an anime opening. This is actually the beginning of a song called "I Want to Walk With You", performed by Japanese musician Seishiro Kusunose. The music loops jarringly at the middle of the logo.

Availability: Can be seen on many videocassettes and VCD's by the Kim Lợi Studio Company.


5th Logo (2000-2002)

Visuals: On a turquoise background, there is an orange translucent disc with "KL" and the text "KIM LOI, INC." in yellow sliding in.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A reggae tune.

Availability: Apparently can be seen on previews at the end on music VHS and DVDs released by Kim Loi.

6th Logo (2002-2010)


Visuals: The screen fades into a purple and black background with a group of orange translucent crystals. The camera pans around the crystals, and with a jarring cut, goes to a slightly different angle. An orange translucent disc with "KL" carved on it slowly turns and rises. The shot fades into a 20th Century Fox-like structure but there are considerably less searchlights and the words are replaced with "KIM LOI PRODUCTIONS".
