Background

King Records Co., Ltd. is a Japanese record company founded in January 1931 as a division of the Japanese publisher Kodansha. It initially began operating as an independent entity in the 1950s. It later became part of the Otowa Group. Today, King Records is one of Japan's largest record companies which is owned by a multinational entity. The headquarters are in Bunkyo, Tokyo. King Records is also currently holder of AKB48's media.

1st Logo (1993?- )

Logo: We see the text "KING RECORDS" with a tri-colored (red, blue, green) line on a black background.

Variants:

  • A superimposed version exists, spotted on Angel Blossom music clip.
  • Sometimes it's in full screen (4:3), spotted on DISCOTHEQUE music clip.
  • Sometimes it's a smaller or larger size.
  • A scope version has been spotted.
  • An early version (Orchestral Fantasia) has a slightly darker, smaller, and stretched out.
  • A color-tinted might prefer some music videos. Cyan in Theory of Absolute Happiness, and brown in Forbidden Resistance.
  • A red version has been spotted on Nana Mizuki's Apassionato music video.
  • A black and white version has been spotted, spotted on Smart Love music clip.
  • One music video has a bigger King Records logo and a VCR/VHS effect.
  • The Vitalization music video had the transparent King Records logo glitching out in a circled-stylized background with red-orange lasers, then the Nana Mizuki screen shuts off.
  • A rare variant that "KING RECORDS" has been replaced with "Bellwood Records" in a Times New Roman-like font.
  • A in-credit version also exists.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Uncommon so far.

  • First appeared on the music clip version of with Nana Mizuki's Orchestral Fantasia.
  • A scope version has appeared on the music video version of some songs, firstly Astrogation (first song from Nana Mizuki's 17th single STARCAMP EP). Also appears on the MV of BRIGHT STREAM, Forbidden Resistance, WHAT YOU WANT (first song from Mizuki's 37th single WONDER QUEST EP), Destiny's Prelude, and NEVER SURRENDER. Other artists' songs are also appeared, such as Inori Minase's Catch the Rainbow!
  • This logo is omitted on both music video versions of Nana Mizuki's Aoi Iro/Blue Color, COSMIC LOVE, Pray and SUPER☆MAN, Inori Minase's Ready Steady Go!, and most AKB48 single songs (The Fortune Cookie of Love; Heavy Rotation; Everyday, Katyusha, etc.).
  • The COSMIC LOVE music video however, had the logo in Nana Mizuki's official YouTube channel.
  • This logo is currently appeared on Nana Mizuki's FIRE SCREAM music video.
  • The Fansoop.com version of Trickster, Synchrogazer, and Destiny's Prelude had no logo, might be cutted-off.

Editor's Note: This logo is similar to the last Perfini logo from 1989 and SF Studios from 1930 to 1932 and 1939 to 2000.

2nd Logo (Late 1990s?)

TBA.

3rd Logo (Early 2010s- )

Logo: On a black background, we see the silvery letters "KING RECORDS" flip in and zoom out, as red, blue, and green stripes streak in and fly underneath, forming the familiar tri-colored line in their logo. The company name flashes and turns to white.

FX/SFX: The letters appearing, the streaks flying, the flash.

Music/Sounds: Several whooshes, then a synth note.

Availability: Uncommon. Can be seen at the start of some Funimation series, such as Endro! and Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist, among others. Might plaster the second/last Starchild logo.

Editor's Note: TBA.
