Background

L.A. Hero was a joint venture between Ken Iyadomi and U.S. Renditions, established in the 1990s. In 1993, the company was purchased by Manga Entertainment and became their North American unit. When the company died out, Ken Iyadomi teamed up with Charles McCarter to found Bandai Entertainment.

1st Logo (Early 90's)

Logo: On a black background we see the following words in a baby blue color in the center of the screen:

L.A. HERO
presents

FX/SFX: None, just a placeholder.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Ultra rare. Can be seen on early releases of Japanese anime from the company.

2nd Logo (1992-1994?)

Nickname: "The Cheesiest Anime Logo Ever"

Logo: On a black background, the green/gray letters of "L.A HERØ" appear floating in while looking at the top, and later the camera moves around the finished text, stopping when the words are seen at the center. The result cheaply crossfades to a red/yellow lens flare, then to the logo again, but it's a little bit closer, which zooms away a little bit to the original distance.

FX/SFX: The letters moving, the lens flare.

Music/Sounds: A peaceful fanfare ending with a synth flourish.

Availability: Ultra rare. Seen on later releases of Japanese anime from the company. An example is Super Dimension Century ORGUSS: Volume 4.

Legacy: This logo is quite notorious among the logo community for its very cheap and cheesy animation. The music is soothing though.
