Background
LBE Systems, L.L.C. was an American video game developer based in Richardson, Texas, that specialized in releasing PC-based arcade games. It is best known for having brought id Software's Quake (1996) to the arcades (titled Quake Arcade Tournament Edition) in 1998 (only 20 known units were known to have been made before conflicts forced production to stop). It also is known for its SparkyNET OS arcade game network, which allowed for arcade cabinets to be linked together (up to 16; 64 with a host server) for multiplayer play.
