Background

LK-TEL Video S.A. formed its Chilean operation in 1987, after Argentina in 1986, but before Brazil later the same year, forming a regional Argentinian video distributor. Much like the Argentinian and Brazilian counterparts, the company mostly distributed product from RCA/Columbia Pictures International Video (later Columbia TriStar Home Video). The company begin splitting off from the Argentinian and Brazilian counterparts in 1990s, making its own distinct identity.

1st Logo (1988-1990)

Visuals: Same as its Argentine counterpart, but with no modifications whatsoever.

Technique: Same as its Argentine counterpart.

Audio: A piece of "Axel F" from Beverly Hills Cop is heard, which trails over to the RCA/Columbia Pictures International Video logo.

Availability: Seen on early LK-TEL tapes from 1988 to 1990, such as the 1988 Chilean VHS releases of Ghostbusters, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Karate Kid and Max Headroom.

2nd Logo (1990-2004)

Visuals: On a black background, three blocks in blue, green, and red zoom out and rotate with a trail effect. They start to draw the TV tube from the previous four LK-TEL Video logos. When they stop, they spin around and move to the top of the TV tube as it zooms out. The same text from LK-TEL Video logo no. 1 rises from the bottom of the screen and rest in their usual position.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A complicated synth theme with swoosh sounds.

Availability: Seen on LK-TEL Video's releases from Chile, such as Men in Black, The Blob, Groundhog Day, I Dreamed of Africa, Spider-Man and Daddy Day Care.

3rd Logo (2004-2006)

Visuals: On a black background, there are two colored lines from the previous LK-TEL Video logos on top and bottom. Three colored boxes (red, green and blue) slide over, and settle in the center, and then move into the correct position. Then the three colored squares zoomed out to show that it was revealed from the top. The word "LK-TEL VIDEO S.A." in a different font stretches in from the bottom, while the colored lines stretched out to form the LK-TEL TV tube from the previous logos appear.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A dreamy relaxing theme with some chime sounds.

Availability: Seen on the last ever LK-TEL VHS releases from Chile, such as Spider-Man 2.
